lake George north metro

Does any any one know any news about lake george in St. Francis? I live a block away from there so i thought i would give it a try after school some time. any info would be great.

Use to go to St. Francis high when I was in school. Fished the lake quite a lot. Haven't heard much about it recently, but when I would fish it about this time of year I would go to the east shore/bay area and pitch bucktails for northerns. Got quite a few out of there. For panfish I would look in the reeds around the shoreline. I few years ago I was fishing in there and 2 HUGE carp hit my boat in shallow water. Had to be upwords of 50#'s apiece. If those spots don't work try hitting a little ways out from the beach, on a good day you can get a mixed bag.

I live just south in Andover and head to George every so often... I get some decent pike out there in the summer throwing spinners and stuff at weeds, Never got any nice crappies in the summer, but in the winter once in a while you get a couple nice Crappies

I also live just south in Andover -- have been fishing George for the past 20 years, the quality has been going down every year.

The lake used to produce a great mixed bag of Sunnies, Crappies, Bass, Pike and even a few Walleye. Now it's just a place to dodge boats and catch a bunch of tiny fish. You still have a shot at Bass up to 6 pounds, Pike over 10 and Sunnies and Crappies that go a pound, but it takes a lot longer to get a meal.

If you are looking to "go fishing" this lake will give you action, always something willing to hit. Plus it's close and it can produce the random BIG fish.
