Camera Problems - HELP!!!

Recommended Posts

PiKeGuY101

I have a Marcum VS250 camera I got last year and the thing worked great until now! I have had it out twice this year and both times the screen freaks out and then drops to a narrow bar across the middle of the tv screen. It goes back and forth from freaking out to working and back again. I've checked all of my wires many times and put in a new battery, it does the same thing on the lake and even at my house after its warm! Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

When I was out this weekend this happened to me with my Cabela's camera also. A new battery corrected the problem and it never failed afterwards.

Are you sure the new battery was charged properly? It just appears to be a battery problem...or a broken battery cable or bad connection?

Thanks guys, the new battery was charged(i've made that mistake before!), I was woundering about the connection at the fuse - it seems pretty loose! I think i'll try that and see what happens. Orlip when you had a short in you camera cable did you replace the cable? or camera? how much? As of now I dont have a flasher so the camera is my only means of finding fish other than the lowrance/lakemaster chip!

My aqua-vu started giving me problems, and after a call to customer service telling me it was out of warranty, I decided to fix it myself. It could be as simple as a vertical hold potentiometer inside the unit on the circuit board that is out of adjustment, or possibly, like mine. Someone dropped it when they borrowed it, and one of the solder joints on the circuit board was broken. Fixed that, and the camera works great. I am not sure how easy it is to access the circuit board on a Marcum, but on the aqua-vu it was a lot of work and a tube of sealant to get it back in shape for the lake.

I had just purchased it from a bargain cave. The short was I think around the 30' mark. Anyway I just returned it so I cant say as to how much the cost would be.

If it is out of warranty try wiggling the cable to see if it corrects itself so you could narrow it done to that part then maybe you could patch that part.

Good Luck.

I heard reports that the Fectos Point area has been good. I have not been there though. Big Bay is still going. I caught 7 in about an hour right at noon in pouring rain! Cliff

Was at Sand Point 5/17-5/23...did ok only..5 eyes, pike and smallies. The water temp rose so fast it turned off fish. We did better on Friday and Sat...then water warmed and slowed. Most on rapalas...no live bait.. That was a mistake may have done better. Hey slush you in a hot spot...or normal area on Crane. We tried NW bay and only Pike

So dad, my bro, n I started fishing at 4pm last Sunday (crane). We caught 21 eyes, 4 sauger, n a 10in. Perch. We were fortunate enough that 12 eyes, 2 saugers n the perch were keepers. We also had the pleasure of throwing back two 18", a 22" and a 24" eye. We ended up fishing  for 5 hours. There were 2 thing we noticed that affected r fishing. (A) the lack of water ment lack of current which is fundamental the first 3 weeks of opener. (B) we seen 14+ eyes surface as well as 6-7 mayflies in the boat. Getanet I hate 2 state the obvious but from my quick look at kab u weren't even close to a spot I would think would be good this time of year. The best 4 types of spots the first 3 weeks of eyes opener in vnp r current, current, current, n sand. I've never fished kab this time of year but I know Sullivan bay/ash river is the best spot.

I used to fish the City lakes quite a bit many years ago.  Calhoun was a go to for me to have a fun bass fishing day.  I can’t tell you how things are now but back then (1990’s) I’d not only expect numbers but at least one 5 lbr each outing.  My best from there was 6lb 4oz caught on a 10 inch black/blue Power Worm.  We used Carolina Rigged lizards as our second best bait.  We lost some of those to the muskies though. Lake of the Isles was not as good to us but had more interesting Muskie stories than Calhoun did.   Heck, is it even called “Calhoun” anymore?

Any reports from Frazier bay at all? I’m thinking of making a run in my little boat the narrows. I’m itching to catch some walleye for the frying pan and think heading east may be my best bet but want to see if there’s any info out there before I make the 45 minutes trip!
