Ok...opener is upon us. I am really trying to learn how to fish for walleye, only caught 4 last year. If I am jigging this weekend, what do you reccomend as to size? small jigs or bigger jigs? Would you jig or go more for the lindy rigs? colors I don't mind b/c I have stocked up on them and can change until I find the color. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Where were you planning on fishing? Different spots the fish seem to be picky especially walleyes. I've notice on Minnetoka sometimes a smaller presentation will be good. Last weekend counldn't get a single bite on fatheads, but tip with a crappie minnow would work great.

Well...might head to tonka or eagle lake in maple grove...last year we mainly trolled original rapalas and got a few pike. It was a cold day that day...hopefully this year will be warmer. there is a point that goes from 4' to 20' in a matter of yards and that's where I pulled mine out of last year...was thinking of trying to jig there and see if I can get into a mess

I use 1/4 ounce jigs with fatheads or shiners and drift. This is how I walleye fish 80% of the time. Slip bobbers at night are fun too.

oh yeah, one of my buddies just uses the heads on the jig...does anyone else do that or do you use the whole minnow and a stinger hook?

I use the whole minnow without the stinger.
