Just wanted to know what the ice was like on south center either by pancake island or the bay south of the island. Thanks for any help.

I was out to Sunset point yesterday. Went about 300 yards or more towards Hwy 8 and punched at least a dozen holes. Average Ice was around 4 to 5 inch. Worst part is the slush under the snow makes travel with equipment hard. The fish yesterday were pretty neutral. Lots of lookers but few takers.

Talked to a co-worker that lives on South Center, "Hazelton Bay". He saw 4 wheelers on ice over weekend. I will try by Pancake Island this Saturday. I will walk out until I'm sure it is safe. Will report back.

Was out this morning. Not great action but managed a few keeper sunfish. Found 10.5" of ice where I was fishing. Did find some spots of double ice and some water on top but for the most part, the ice as pretty good.

Walligator you should be fine going anywhere on the lake with a wheeler. Last weekend me and some friends were cruising around different spots all over the lake. I might be out there on sunday. If you see a new blue honda rubicon with custom wheel thats lifted it's, me feel free to say hello. I will be out there quite a bit this year.

Was out last night an MAN has it been slow this year. Not one bite last night and I tried everything!

A buddy I was out with said last night he got 8 nice walleyes on tip ups ranging from 20-26.5 inches. I seen him catch one and it was only about 16-17 inches.

Brite side of things Ice is still pretty good.

Was out today and there was plenty of slush/water on the ice. Fishing was good until the snow stopped and the temps started to fall. Seen some really nice pike get caught!

Good Luck, ole

Questions. Would you like something on a motor route. Stick to or fish smaller lakes. Travel distance. How many days.

If you have an aluminum boat and open access to bottom of the hull, you can just set the transducer in a little puddle of water inside the boat.  The signal of a working unit will read just fine through the hull.

Ace (or anyone for that matter), have you been able to pinpoint the conditions that bring the big smallies up shallow in the fall?  Water temp perhaps?  Moon phase? A bait connection?  We saw this happen by chance a couple of years ago, which resulted in some very large smallies coming over the rails.  Didn’t weigh the biggest but my guess was 6lbs+.     Just trying to to see if this shallow movement can be predicted.    Brian

Deep weed edges have produced crappie during the transition period, before the water gets in the 50s. Rigging or jigging chubs have been a standard tactic for walleye this time of year. If your noticing a lot of debris throughout the water column, turnover may be going on, fish a bigger body of water, they turn over a little latter. Have not been on Webb, just tips for this time of year.... Good luck!

Try pine lake off of McFarland. Easy to get to and good size eyes. You’d need a portable fish finder though. Interesting lake for eyes. Basswood is awesome too but it’s a haul.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be making this treck until next June. I heard from another source that it’s navigable as well, as long as water levels are normal. Thanks for the info.

@gimruis   I’ve been accused of having too much patience many times.   My duck hunting buddy talked about people’s differing personalities and how we didn’t understand why fellow hunters weren’t more considerate.  We settled on the fact that we’ve been trained to be that naive from working in the hospitality/service industry too long! 😀   Still loving the hunting but have to change our expectations a bit

Instead of going through all the hassle of mounting it in your boat before you knows if it's good. You may try duct taping the ducer to a stick to hang over the side and run some power wires to it.   You should know pretty fast if it works or not by making a few knob adjustments. Good Luck.
