Thinking about fishing Lake Jane this summer since I live close to it. How is the public boat access at this lake? Does it get a lot of traffic in the summer?

Posted

Most of the traffic goes out of Demonterville. The 2 lakes are connected, and I think there is no kill for bass.

Whatt, I think you're talking about Olson Lake. Olson and Demontreville are connected through a small channel and both can be fun to fish. Jane, on the other hand is catch and release for bass only. It's landing is really decent, but parking spots are tough to come by after about 6:30.

Where do you park if the access is full.

And what time does it usually fill up.

Wow I thought it was jane this entire time!!
Can you keep the bass out of Jane? Is there a lot of weedy areas?

Jane is catch and release only for bass.

We have fished Lake Jane quite a bit over the last two years. Early morning and early evening the best time. Midday much recreational boat traffic. Best luck along shoreline docks and structure with finesse worms pumpkinseed color, cast and slow retrieve. Midlake in the deeper spots this works well as does Rattle traps and Storm Divers. For topwaters the Bill Dance Spit N Image has produced. We also catch smaller Northerns, but as long as we are catching anything it makes it that much better. The lake holds some real beauties. Be careful where you park as the police were out writing tickets last year. Hope this was helpful it sure works for us.

Good fishing,

wizkid,

If you're intersted in going out for a couple hours or so we'd be glad to share our info with you. Now is not a bad time for some decent panfish if you're into that. If you're interested contact us at:

Demontreville and Olson had a 16" size limit but now it has changed to C&R only. It was implemented last year.

Slowfinger has it right - Demontreville is the lake that's connected to Olson. Landing on Jane is good but has very few parking spaces.

Mostly a bass lake but I've pulled some nice jacks out of there as well.

Access is good. Parking is limited. Be prepared to walk a few blocks.

I have parked on the residential side streets a few blocks east of the access

Are there any decent panfish such as crappies in Lake Jane?

Posted

I was out on Jane today with my kid and got a few sunnies. I was surprised that I didn't see to many fish on the finder. This was my first time on the lake. I've read fishing reports that say the lake is good for crappies. Has anybody had luck with crappies?

Jane and Demonterville are my main lakes for Bass!!!!!
From the Bass opener to late July Jane is very hard to get on, we usually get there by 5 am in order to park, parking is very limited.
DEMONTERVILLE, OLSON, AND JANE ARE CATCH AND RELEASE ONLY FOR BASS
All these lake have allot of weeds so you won't see allot of fish on you're electronics.
All these lakes have nice Crappies the problem can be finding them. There are also some good sunnies.
For Bass on all lakes. Top waters till sun up, jerk baits thrue mid-day, plastics and jigs late in the afternoon.
All these lake have ALLOT of rec traffic on them. Allot of little snots on jet skis and water skiers.
What am I saying? I don't want more people on these lakes!!!!
THESE LAKES ARE ALL BAD. BIG WINTER KILL. NO FISH. GO FISH WHITE BEAR AND BALD EAGLE.
LOL
Good Luck

Have a good one!
