My buddy says he was warned about having a grill on LOW.

I have a stove/oven in my house, CO's have never said a word, don't know what the difference would be. I don't know for sure, but I thought they made it legal to clean and eat fish on the ice this year.

My only thought would be they are trying to prevent people from dumping the coals on the ice. I've been out there before and seen trash like that...which is disheartening. I haven't heard any new rules about this though.

Been fishing LOW for about 20 years I have never heard anything about not being able to have a grill on the ice.

I've not heard anything ,but he was asking tonight.

I'm looking for laws.He has a gas grill to do steaks.

He was told last year he was asking for trouble by the locals.

Sure they were'nt 'terrorists' posing as locals? !!

Never heard of such and I've been around a while. I think I've even been checked by warden on 16mile while the grill was going once too just a coupla years back!

Half the big perms on the pond are probably equiped with a grill of some type, at least the local huts!!

Going up to LOW for the first time this winter...can anyone confirm if cleaning legal fish and frying them up for a meal one night is legal? thanks!

O.K. I guess I jumped the gun. I just talked to the DNR and they said it was legal to clean and eat fish on a lake that has no slot limit. So L.O.W. is not legal yet. The lady I talked to said that this was going to change, but she did not know exactly when. She said there would be a bullitin put out when this happens, so hopefully it will happen yet this season. Sorry for getting your hopes up, I know mine were. We always spend at least 2 days sometimes 3 in my sleeper, it sure would be nice to eat a days catch while we are there.

I just finished listening to Curts radio program and the CO that he had as a guest definitley said YOU CAN clean and eat walleys as well as sauger on LOW. They are looking for the remains to be kept intact however for measurement purposes. LOW has a slot limit and this practice is now legal. Good luck and hang on. Bill

OK. The CO on the show had been to the seminar on the

new rules and regs for this season. If they are not

in effect yet, they will be soon. Sorry for any confusion

but nobody is out in sleeper houses yet. It is set to

start by the time we need it.

No ice in Stuntz Bay yet but I did lift the boat out of the water onto the boathouse deck.  Easy to drop it back in if the water is soft after I get my deer.

I took a trip this August to Buffalo River State Park to wade in the river while hitting the holes. My brother and I caught a variety of fish from red horse and chubs to a clam. All fish were caught on worm chunks. This spring/summer I want to use my new 5wt fly road and see what I catch

Let’s get them 22-27 inch fish out of the lake

I think anybody can see that the food/forage base is or has declined in Mille lacs.......having a lot of large fish doesn't help it at all. I think they should thin the herd.

Well was a sad day today indeed. Got the kayak all vacuumed out and cleaned up. Then hung it in it’s winter spot in the shed. Trailer got a cleaning to. But until next year so long open water. Time to finish putting the open water gear away and finish getting the ice gear out.

10/21/18     I have hunted in the Hutchinson area the last two weekends with my Dad, son, and some friends. Dakota ducks are trickling through central MN as the calendar migration has begun. With strong NW blows before or during the past two weekends, we have harvested mallards, gadwalls, redheads, bluebills, canvasbacks, and ringnecks, as well as a couple of geese hunting from a boat blind on some shallow lakes. This calendar migration should continue over the next couple weeks whenever we can get a strong NW or West wind. It will take some more cold and frozen water in Canada to get the big Canadian birds to come down--hopefully that happens before Thanksgiving. Good luck, and I will see you out there somewhere.

Snow?  Yeah I finally ran into some today.     And I HAD to get them on the tailgate! 😅   And that is one of the reasons to leave that stuff in MN for a little while.  😎

Wow, I am certainly getting beat up over on this side of the fence today.  On month old posts and mostly by the mods oddly. ☹️
