It would be interesting to know what people are going to get insofar as accessories for thier rigs, or gear for shore fishing, and maybe why...

1) Minkota wireless remote for trolling motor... anybody actually try one of these yet ??? Looks great until you get 5 guys with tehm at a spillway... mad.gif leggo my ego...

2) 2 - Drift socks... anyone have any best choices ??? Otherwise Ill look for inexpensive (not cheap)...

3) Rod holders... I saw that there are some nice custom rod holders that fit in a standard chair hole (pretty cheap too)...

Any other ideas of neat toys to buy ??? I got a boat last year, and its still pretty basic (have good electronics though)...

Walleye GFA,
Where did you see that style rod holders? I saw one at Cabelas that holds 4 rods but it was 200 bucks.
Thanx.

Its in the catalog that you mentioned, the walleye 2003 edition page 93 product # 01-3819-001 (store brand) for $69.99, it will hold 8 rods and has several different peg styles available...

If there is something similar available at FM.com someone let us know (but I dont think there is)... I always try to support a guy who can make a living from fishing... if not go to the catalog...

Thanx Walleye,
I'll have to check that out.

I just picked up the eagle fishmark 320 and am eager to try that out. For 200 bucks it looks really good, and it will hopefully be a great upgrade from the bottom end eagle "supra-pro ID" I have been using since I was 10. (by the way- the supra-pro ID is unreal for the boundary waters. It's fairly small and can last like a month on a few duracells)

I also grabbed a pflueger trion spinning reel- which looked like a nice reel for only $40. I haven't fished with it yet, but I've been playing with it and it doesn't seem as smooth as the display model at the store. Every time I manually open and shut the bail and then reel, i get a little "click click click" friction for about the first 5 revolutions, so that is sort of disapointing. We'll see how it fishes.

Walleye GFA - Thanks for the invite! grin.gif Sounds great! MM has both of my e-mail addresses and cell #. Just let me know when, where, & what for. Next two Saturdays are out - I'm corrupting my kids while my wife is at a class, but the sundays are free.

Oh - regarding the remote control trolling motor in a crowd - is the problem frequency overlap, or just too many people with too little control?

Peace and Fishes,

Thats the question... I would hope there are several different frequencies, so we dont control the boats of others... but I dont know... I went to Gaylans to find out and they were thier usual oblivious selves... nice guys, but they dont have a clue or at least not the guys I talk to...

I've been putting together a wish list too...

-splashguards for backtrolling
-drift sock
-transducer for my FL-18 on my trolling motor
-Aqua Innovations Pure Oxygen Baitwell Keeper
-some sort of rod storage system that will help me from getting all my rods tangled together in the boat...
-Precision Trolling book

Thats my shortlist, now I gotta figure out how to pay for it! smile.gif
