Pheasant Hunting in Dakota/Scott County?

Recommended Posts

This is my first year pheasant hunting and I am looking for some public land to hunt near the south metro. I live in Lakeville and would like to hunt somewhere in Dakota or Scott county if I can. I know there is a WMA just outside of Farmington but I don't know if it is any good for pheasants. Anyone know anything about it? I would appreciate any input people have. Thanks.

you should throw this up in the hunting forum:

not sure what wma you are talking about, but i was at the chub lake wma in that area on sunday morning attempting to shoot some ducks. i posted up in a field between chub lake and that little pond, the corner of which is in the wma. didn't have any ducks come in range and didn't see any pheasants. i didn't walk either of the open areas in the wma trying to flush up pheasants either so there might be some in there.

look at the dnr website to find wma's in your area and be sure to check the regulations on whether you can hunt pheasants in a given wma.

i figure those public lands get hit hard and any pheasants dumb enough to set up shop in there probably get harvested within a week of the opener.

good luck.
