Since I didn't get a response in time to hook up with anybody, I went out by myself last night on Black Lake at sundown. The crappies were very active in about 18 feet of water. I had read some reports of guys doing well there and getting some decent size but these fish were pretty small. Too bad, because they bit real well. If the size was any good I could have had a limit easily.

You might want to try larger baits. I cannot find any fat-head minnows any more, but they've produced bigger fish lately. Last night I tried small spoons instead which did yiedled larger catches. They really seemed to smack them!
