I was wondering if anybody new a spot along the mississippi backwaters where the ice was thick enough to try for pike with tip-ups.

As far as I know the Northern Pike fishing season is closed on the Mississippi River, and everywhere else in or near the metro area.

Gopher Hole,

Pool 2 is catch and release all year long. However, I don't know of any back water areas to try. Maybe the marina by Hidden Falls Park. Try the Pools 2-9 forum to ask the river rats. I'm sure they would hook you up.

Ebass ... I know pool 2 is open year around for the walleyes and smallies, but I'm pretty sure that the northern season is normal. I might be wrong, but I dont have a regulation book handy to check into this. If anyone out there has a regulation book near by .. please check it and positively clarify it.

You are absolutely correct. The continuos season is only for Walley, sauger, largemouth and small mouth bass in Pool 2.
