Here you go gang! If you walk in to a local boat show to purchase a new rig, and all other things being equal, would you be MOST comfortable dealing with a salesman dressed in--

A. A nice suit and tie

B. Business casual, ie. Khaki pants and a
dress shirt

C. Outdoor casual, ie. Clean jeans and a polo
or button up shirt

D. Someone who obviously needs a shower. HeHe

B or C but typically C. And I would deal w/ D before A. That would be the sympathy deal working.

D. as long as he really knows boats,

if hes an idiot, b or c.

As long as he knew what he ws talking about without reciting brochure information.

I would lean to C because he probably would be a fisherman. D would on be in my boat upwind.

If you get a number from someone that sounds too good to be true, have them write it down for you. I got a heck of a deal last year that way.

I would not care what they were wearing as long as they knew boats. The best "deal" is not always the "best deal". I was boat shopping at the show 2 years ago. I will not mention Marina names but I went to many booths and looked at many boats. I was leaning towards a Lund but had not ruled out any of the others. I was given a price on a Lund and was told it would be the "Best deal" I was going to find at the show. The salesman even told me he would write it up and let me shop it at the show. So I did. Well he was right. No one could come close to the deal. I went to crestliner and that rep just looked at the sheet and the equipment list and said "Nope can not meet that price and basically called me a liar and said know one could do that boat with those options even though I had it on a contingent purchase agreement." This is not a slam against crestliner just the sales person. So I said thank you and moved on to Smokercraft. This salesman looked at the quote and said "No I can not beat that deal on a boat like that with those types of options and I would not even try because I do not have to, its a Lund and Smokercraft are better boats, better hulls, blah blah blah, bashing Lund’s. Again not a bash on Smokercraft just the sales person. Again, I said thank you and went on my way. Well I started to think the deal I got must be pretty good but was leery because it seemed it must have been to good based on the reactions of the others I spoke with. so I went back to the Lund sales person and said I would get back to him the next day to confirm the order. I went home and faxed the order to a well known Marina with a good reputation and asked if they could match the deal. The said there was no way they could do that deal at the price with the options I had on the order and gave me there best price on the same package and it was about 1500.00 more. What they did tell me was I should do some checking with the BBB and other consumer agencies on whatever marina I decided I wanted to go with. So I did and found out that the Marina that had given me the order had a very bad reputation the main complaint was that when people picked up there boats many of the "extras" we on back order or "overlooked" and most cases were still unresolved up to 2 years later. After finding this out I called the salesperson to question him on it and after listening to him tell me that none of the complaints were valid and besides they had new management and continued to get to be a real sales job from him I decided to cancel the order. I did end up getting a Lind though.

Pherris has the right answer just a little to much information. The best way to sell anything is knowing your product and being able to relate to your customer.

Barely had time and data to post a few random daily pics!  😄   Iffen you’re self banned, how’d ya know? 😉   Sunday - Tuesday hunt near Yankton, SD.  We found ourselves there between two of the big pushes north.  Adults first, pushing the ice line north, slipped through a couple days before we got there and the second juvie push held up by the storm that went through the night we traveled.  Our best day was Monday.  Sunny and warm with a nice south wind.  Day 3 was cool with a stiff northeast wind bringing in another storm.     A select few groups did well with birds coming off Lewis and Clark lake but we weren’t in their path.  We packed up early and hit the road.  We headed north and found them between Brookings and Watertown.  Saw 100’s of thousands at the ice line.

Crazy, about 50 Robin's hit our yard!  Not sure what their eating but none are in any of the neighbors yards around us?  Had to cut video down so it would run.  20250319_175454.mp4
