Adrian Peterson

How about that Adrian Peterson today? 224 yards at Chicago plus a well needed win! Now all we need is a decent OC and some pass coverage.

In the post-game radio interviews, he referred to Peterson as "Chester Taylor's backup". Peterson didn't even get the bulk of the carries. Chili got bailed out by Peterson all game long and he has the gall to call him "Chester Taylor's backup".

He needs to quit returning kicks though. Despite how good he is, you're just asking for him to get injured doing that.

Would you rather see Twilli get blown up and fumble?

AD carried us, fire Chilly...

Definitely get him off the Return game.....I know NO moved Bush to the Return to give their playmaker more chances at the ball.....but I don't understand how any team can put their #1 guy out there at that position.....Reminds me of Tecmo Bowl and putting Woodson returning kicks only to have him injured quickly I might add......

As an NFL fan, I have never seen such a burst of acceleration from a RB when there is a hole in the D. Reminds me of Barry Sanders. If only T-Jax can be more accurate with his passes the opposing D will have their hands full and should leave a WR open downfield.

But he is not thier #1 guy. According to chester the molester (childress) he is just the #2 running back. confused.gif

I think he could have been a decent rb, he just had his head in the olympics instead of football.

The kid's gonna be one of the best backs to ever play the game if he stays healthy.

Only if he plays for the right team.. If he plays for the Vikings for most of his career then, NOOOOOOOOO! He will NOT be the best back or even close to the best back to ever play the game LOL... Do you really think he can be better than some recent backs such as L Tomilson, P Holmes, and many more solid backs in history, while playing for the MN VIKINGS??

I dont think so!

Remember L. TOmilson broke the td rushing record. Can A Peterson ever do this while with the MN VIKINGS?

What are you talking about??? Who did Barry Sanders play for again? That's right, one of the perenial worst teams in the NFL during his career. Didn't effect him. Tomlinsonmade the Chargers a good team, they were a bad team with him as well. First three years with him they didn't make it over 8 wins, I think twice they finished in the bottom of the division. But LT managed just fine with a terrible team.

Why can't he be good with the Vikes, I think he proved you wrong before you even posted that. He has more yards than LT as well this year.

Yup,

Hate to pile on here but I recall many a year that "Sweetness" ran roughshod over the entire NFL on some of the worst Bear teams in history. Many years they had no quarterback, no recievers of any value and the entire NFL knew the Bears were going to run Payton left, Payton right, Payton up the middle. He did OK, didn't he?

R.I.P. Walter.

I agree. Sir Walter was on some terrible teams, as was Barry Sanders. Just thing how their statistics would look if they had an offensive line that Emmit Smith had his entire career (not counting the 1 year in Phoenix).

Hey MidCoast, How did AP look compared to LT last week smirk.gif

I don't know how this could have even been doubted. He was drafted by the Vikings who also have one of (if not) the highest paid(which makes them good?) o-line in the NFL. Barry Sanders pretty much did it all by himself, but AD has an O-line. Seeing what he did in Oklahoma everyone knew he had the talent, health was the question. Coming into the year I thought Chester Taylor was going to be the main man w/ Peterson learning the speed of the NFL. He has far exceded my expectations already. Don't forget Taylor had 1,214 yards last year and the team wasn't good, Peterson obviously can do it w/ the Vikes and once our QB situation is set, play action can make us a multi threat. I can't wait to see what happens when defenses have to play an honest pass defense against us.

So, that was you in the camo lund? I'm bummed, I have to head back to the cities tomorrow for a few days, then back up for at least a few weeks. Got the dock in and fired up to get out chasing some crappies till opener!

On the south end...   Lots of ice on the main basin, but it is definitely deteriorating.  Some anglers have been fishing the open water at the mouth of the Rainy River in front of the Lighthouse Gap.  The rest of the basin is still iced over. Pike enthusiasts caught some big pike earlier last week tip up fishing in pre-spawn areas adjacent to traditional spawning areas.  8 - 14' of water using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring has been the ticket.  Ice fishing for all practical purposes is done for the year. The focus for the basin moving forward will be pike transitioning into back bays to spawn,  This is open water fishing and an opportunity available as the pike season is open year round on Lake of the Woods. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. With both the ice fishing and spring fishing on the Rainy River being so good, many are looking forward to the MN Fishing Opener on Saturday, May 11th.  It should be epic. On the Rainy River...  An absolutely incredible week of walleye and sturgeon fishing on the Rain Rainy River.     Walleye anglers, as a rule, caught good numbers of fish and lots of big fish.  This spring was one for the books.   To follow that up, the sturgeon season is currently underway and although every day can be different, many boats have caught 30 - 40 sturgeon in a day!  We have heard of fish measuring into the low 70 inch range.  Lots in the 60 - 70 inch range as well.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  Open water is continuing to expand in areas with current.  The sight of open water simply is wetting the pallet of those eager for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th.   A few locals were on the ice this week, targeting pike.  Some big slimers were iced along with some muskies as well.  If you like fishing for predators, LOW is healthy!

Early bird gets the worm some say...   I have it on good authority that this very special angler caught no walleyes or muskies and that any panfish caught were released unharmed.
