on a different forum bassnspear mentioned having a get-to - gator. that got me to thinking, why cant we try to have a fishinminnesota get together for a couple hours at a local establishment. does fishingminnesota have decals etc to purchase? it would also be nice to put a face&name to some of the people we have been lying to all these years about hunting& fishing. just an idea, what does any body else thunk about this?

other sites I've been on have had get-togethers at local watering holes, but considering the family nature of this site I think the mention of a substance such as alcohol would cross the line.

What do others think?

If you click on the "Outdoor pro store" link at the top of the main page you can purchase decals. There's some pics of them on the Open Water forum at the top.

There is a get together every year in this area catfishing on the horseshoe chain during the winter. Last year it was cancelled however d/t too much snow.

As far as meeting at a local establishment I don't think there would be an issue against talking about meeting other FMers as long it's kept clean and good taste. Just because it is a family site doesn't mean you cannot mention the word alcohol. I do think it would be supported better if the gathering was after a shooting or fishing type event though.

Lots of opportunities for get together coming up this fall and ice season. For the Chain event mark your calendars for the first Saturday in March. Hopefully mother nature will be more cooperative this time around. laugh.gif

Also check out the Mille Lacs forum for a get together the first weekend in October. Should be a great time! I'll be there with several other FMers.

As far as Stickers go they can be bought at the FM store along with some get looking gear. I'd try to set something up on the lake yet this fall but my weekends are getting eaten up.

There's still some great fishing ahead on the St Cloud area lakes!

Hey Glenn,

As i stated, i am thinking of putting a Get to Gator together, to get people out in the winter time to learn and understand the sport of spearing.

I had a ton of people that wanted to go out last year, but never had the time to take everyone out.

Like Borch said, there is always get togethers through FM, and there is also FM events out there as well. For example, I am hosting a bass event this sunday. Ray did a few for bass early this year as well.

There is get togethers all over for FM.

i guess maybe i should pay closer attention to the posts about these get togethers. i havent noticed any in the st cloud/new london area or deer river area which are the areas i like to frequent. i just thought it would be cool to meet at a watering hole to bs and meet fellow fmers for a while. did look at the outdoor store, cool decals, might get a few to proudly display my affiliation with FM. dont know if my eyes are going bad but the hats & clothes were blurry to make out designs. keep with the replies and thanks for those that already have.

From my experieince the hats turn out very nice. I do have several. Tell you what, when we get some decent ice I'll post for an informal St Cloud area get together.

It's always great meeting fellow FMers. laugh.gif

Rough weekend at the lake... but still better than any day at work! I managed to get out for a few hours Saturday morning and then got off the lake when the storms rolled in and stayed off. I threw for muskies for a few hours but didn't move any and then switched to smallies and boated a few on rock piles.  We were stuck for a while on Saturday with the road near Camp Vermilion washed out. Looks like the whole area got quite a bit of water. How'd everyone else fare?

Does anyone know if you can get a digital thermostat for the roof top AC units? I have a coleman mach 3 plus. The fan constantly stays on and is super loud. But it does work really well for cooling. Any help would be appreciated.

Spent the weekend on Ottertail, fishing tough. Waves 1 to 3 ft. 4" rain Sat. night, on/off rain all weekend. Caught a few biggest 18". Water crystal clear 15+ ft, even with waves, due to millions of Zebra Mussel in lake. Weeds and clam shells had many Zebras attached. Still better than working.

My intent is not to bash here. Many Rapalas are great lures but a heads up I had 5 of them on the casting deck of the boat in the heat within 3 hours every one of the split from the heat!!! Wow that was money down the tubes. I have never had that happen. Also it is never a good idea to slap a lure to get weeds off I'm aware of that nonetheless my bride slapped her's to get a weed off nothing violent but what she got back was a lure in pieces. I love many of the lures but wont be buying any off those again. I have had the lips pull out on the Shad Raps before. My favorite is the Fat raps those are indestructible.

It happens.  If you timed if post-spawn, its definitely tougher.  It takes them a while to recover and get into their summer pattern.

Stovetop?  Walleye on west end is tough because there are fewer and they are mostly larger fish that don't seem to behave the same way as smaller ones.

Pike should be working well on the deep weedlines leading into the two slop bays that Del mentioned. They are commonly calle "The Nursery". Largies should be anywhere in the weeds. Del also hit the nail on the head about the Windsock island and the bay behind it. The windsock island area can be a good walleye producer in the early mornings and sometimes in the evenings. Don't forget to try the larger "bay" (really more of an indentation) past the Windsock island and its associated bay. Lots of boulders in there so be careful, you'll see some shiny rocks! I've had good success in there  for both species of bass and pike, lots of nice sunnies too. There is a reef that runs from the point directly out across Norwegian from the resort marina and runs from there to the other shore running to the northeast. Good spot for the evening walleye bite. You'll probably also want to try fishing the Merry Go Round and the Stovepipe on Wak-Em-Up Bay for walleyes and smallies. I'll try to post more info when I have a bit more time!
