Anybody notice that very few smallmouths in vermilion have bite marks on them as opposed to other lakes? I cant recall any bass this year that Ive caught out of vermilion that have been scarred up.

HA HA HA. Almost every bass I caught today had a bite scar!!!! They've just been hiding on me!

The BASS bite was unbelievable at times tonite! Me and my 9 year old caught about 45. And believe it or not. This pig hit a senko in 4 feet of water....It actually fought like a bass for a second too!

Casey

I crusied the whole main lake shoreline on the eastern half of Big Bay last weekend and didn't see it. Must be on one of the islands or in somebodys garage. grin.gif

I would be more than happy to take whoever returns the cooler lid to the casino for their choice of prime rib buffet, breakfast buffet on a Saturday or Sunday morning or brunch buffet and take them out on Vermillion for some fishing.

It's a small (about 12" by 9") red cooler lid. I know it probably isn't worth the mentioned reward but I won the cooler at a Muskies Inc. gathering and it is the cooler I use for my luch box at work because it is the perfect size. And I feel extremely guilty for unintentionally littering in Lake Vermillion.

Silver Scale thanks for looking for me. I would be willing to take you fishing in my boat anytime, we may want to fish your spots though grin.gif

Sledneck,

Those are some great fish! I am coming up this weekend and will be trying for smallies. Can you give me any tips? We will be staying at Mocassin Point. Thanks!

The bass fishing is either slowing down, or they were full today. Only caught about 25 from 10am to 7pm. Lost about 4 pigs though.

I sure hope you are keeping your limit and eating them. The lake is full of these smalleys and they are an easy catch. I swear I have a few pet smalleys living under my dock and my neighbors dock. When I get up to the cabin on Friday night I make a few casts and I have one on the line in short order. Strictly catch and release as I do consider them an extended part of the family.

UM, NO!

Oh come on, be a sport and try some. I hear they taste like chicken if you prepare and cook them correctly. Don't worry about the worms, it's extra protein!

Eat smallies? Nah.. too mushy for my taste. Besides, when you're into the pigs like Sledneck always seems to be, it's too much fun to let 'em go & try to catch 'em again.

As far as a report goes... was up last week and did pretty well. Hooked into 13 Smallies in 1 1/2 hours on Monday, biggest was about 17 1/2" Nice and fat. wish I had pics, but alas, my 9 yr old ain't the best on the camera, and I didn't think to really check his photography out when I had the fish in the boat. (He caught 10, by the way) frown.gif All of mine were on a Mepps spinner, his were on a wacky worm. (Figured I'd try something I hadn't tossed out there in a while, and it worked...) laugh.gif

BTW - Sledneck, do you just sit the camera on your console and do the delay thing? I need to figure out a way to get a few of them piggies on the camera when I'm alone out there...

Did the walleye thing Tues. - Thurs. too much wind & waves to really go after the Bronzebacks for my taste, so I found some reefs in Big Bay, cruised a few islands and underwater points. Boated in the neighborhood of 40 in about 18 hours or so of fishing. Nothing huge, but no real dinks, either. 2 slot fish, one 20, one 22. The rest were all between 12 and 16 1/2. S-L-O-W trolling 2 hook (worm rig) spinner rigs with 1/2 a crawler in anywhere from 12 - 35 FOW. Seemed like they were liking the lazy speed. Caught most of them while moving at about 0.8 mph on the GPS. Nice thing about that was that the trolling motor battery lasted for 3 days before needing a recharge. grin.gif

Doesnt really matter which particular mine pit, as they all have big pike and bass. Atleast thats been my experience anyway. You definatley have to work for em, though.
