Cleaning fish in the House

I have a laminated garage shelf board that i put over the laundry sink in the basement. cleans up quick and easy with the water right there.

I dont think i could ever get away with the kitchen...She watched me clean some walleye from opener and normally i just rinse off the fillet knife well, but she had to take it upstairs and wash it with soap to make sure it was clean.

I brought a used 7' long, used cabinet/countertop/bar sink home from work one day. After a couple of plumbing fittings...and cold beverages...I have a great fish cleaning spot in the utility room in the basement. Also works great for re-building snowmobile and dirt bike engines, carbs, etc. Can't smell the fish over the oil.

I have a 2'x2' plastic cutting board that goes over one side of the kitchen sink and it allow for some fairly easy clean up. If she wants em cleaned outside or in the garage she can clean em out there. But then we probably wouldn't eat any fresh fish either

I clean my fish on our deck railing by calmping cutting board to the railing and use a 5 gallon bucket lined with garbage bag for entrails. I also cover cutting board with newspaper this makes clean-up easier. Just roll up newspaper after done cleaning and toss in bucket along with papertowels used to wipe off cutting board pull the bag tie and toss in trash bin. I have a bowl on railing for fillets and take them in house and rinse and cook or freeze wash board and my knife put them away and I'm done.

I like to let all my fish go

The wife has not complained about a smell (other then me) in the house.

To make things even quicker, if I only have a few fish to clean I'll put out a paper grocery bag and lay if flat on the counter. Filet the fish, wrap the bag around the guts and I have to do is wash the knife and wipe down the counter. If I have more than a few fish I do get the cutting board out otherwise the bag turns into a mess.

My wife cleans the fish, I'll have to ask her how she does it.

I clean my fish right in the kitchen. The only difference since I've been married is that I'm a little more careful cleaning up. Luckily I married a good gal who could tell right off the bat that I was too far gone to be tamed. She does roll her eyes alot though.

I usually clean them on the counter by the sink in the kitchen. A couple of winters ago I had some crappies that I brought home from up north frozen in a bucket of snow. I filled the kitchen sink with water to put them in to thaw out. I told the kids "don't tell mom that all the fish are in the sink"... What do you think the first thing out of their mouth was when mom got home... My wife didn't care though so all was well.

IN the house on the pull out cutting board next to the sink.. Used to use old newspapers, but have figured out that the empty beer and pop cases work better, Just open them up and use the inside. The fish don't slide around on them and they don't stick to the fish after they get wet.

When I am home, in the kitchen. At the cabin, on top of the bait tank in the basement. Wife kinda sighs when I use the sink at home, but doesn't get bent out of shape. I can't complain, because that is where the final trim, clean and wrap takes place with the deer processing, and she helps with that!
