  1. March 4, 2018: We know everyone is waiting for River updates....We haven’t made the 120 miles round trip to International Falls to check yet. Grants Dad does drive that way once a week and when we know more we will let you know. We are hoping to have a report in a few weeks as there is quite a bit of ice on the river still. March 11th, 2018: As of Wednesday there was no improvement on the river opening up. The temperatures have not been that warm with very little melting happening. Also the we have had some pretty cold nights in the single digits and low teens. This coming week looks like we should have warmer weather so hopefully it will get things moving.
  2. Dam at I-Falls opened as we were driving up for a two day excursion on the river. Still decent fishing Thursday with higher water and more current. Friday got tougher with high, fast water and lots of debris. Still managed about thirty five walleyes up to 28 inches and four sturgeon up to 62 inches. 3/8 or 1/2 ounce pink/chartreuse jigs with rattles tipped with shiners and rainbows worked well. Hopefully things will settle down a bit and the hot bite from last weekend will return. Good luck, and I will see you out there somewhere.
  3. Hey all,a little update for you on how things are going up here in the north land. After extensive flooding with the other resorts on the creek and some help from some heavy equipment we now have a suitable crossing on the lake side of the point! We began hauling houses out today and are excited to get fishing soon! If anyone has an itch to get some early ice fishing in we have a couple houses out now and plan on bringing the rest of the fleet out over the next couple of days. The ice in the first couple miles past the crossing is quite rough but there's smoother ice after about the 2 mile mark on the trail. The early reports of the fishing from the first few days is decent in the 20-23' of water range jigging with frozen shiners. Happy fishing everyone and we can't wait to see you on beautiful Lake of the Woods! 4. I think everyone knows what's wrong with this. Since it's snowing in Roseau I figured I'd check Sportsman's Dock Cam. Low and behold a guy kept his ice fishing weekend on track but brought the boat. Depressing and rare at the same time.
  5. I was thinking about heading up to Franz Jevne State Park end of Sept / early October. Is it safe / manageable to fish the rainy in that area in a 12 foot jon boat with 6 HP motor? Otherwise is the shore fishing any good? Is the park busy that time of year? I've never been up there before... Thanks!
