  1. Hey guys! First post so excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong spot. I just moved to Elk River, MN and am feening for some fish. I have no idea where to go first but do any of you know any decent spots to get some Crappie or Walleye within a 45 min drive from Elk River? Any spots are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!
  2. Anyone know of lakes with decent shore fishing near Mankato? I've gone to North Shore on Madison Lake but can't find any shore on other lakes near by. Any suggestions?
  3. Looking for some fun easy Shore fishing spots. New to fishing as an adult, only fished when I was 10-13 in scouts. From California having moved to Moorhead Oct 18, just got fishing license for my wife and I. Bought some poles and gear and just wondering if anyone can point me in the directions of some great spots to fish off shore, as we do not have a boat. Thank you.

    Big Canadian Crappies Eh!

Day 1 up on Flag Island Resort brought us many Walleye, Sauger and Perch on the Minnesota side of Lake of the Woods. Day 2 however we went into the Canadian water to fish an area that has Walleye, Perch, Sauger and some REALLY BIG Crappies! This plan and location did not disappoint - I won't be forgetting this day on the ice!
  5. So if you are like me and have a jig addiction please help. I am looking for 3 mm sized jigs with bigger hooks. Why you ask I have been fishing lakes with big gills, but also have big crappies. Those tiny hooks on the 3 mm jigs just don’t seem to hold those crappies as well. I found the clam xl jigs but they are between 3.75-5 bucks jig. Anyone know where to find some small jigs with bigger hooks please let me know. Would you all be interested in finding jigs like this as well. Thanks
  6. Hello all, I am new to the area and don't know where to begin fishing. I'm looking for a lake around Mankato that has walleye / crappies in it. I would like to make it out a few times this fall yet and then hit the ice hard. Any advice on what lakes to start with? There's so many that I don't know how to choose which one to go to.
  7. A group of us are planning on getting together on Lake Osakis for the day on 8/18/18 for a day of fishing and a midday picnic at the Battle Point Park. We would enjoy connecting with some fellow anglers from the site to connect and have some fun. Osakis is a great lake for big gills, slab crappies, nice walleye, pike, smallmouth and largemouth bass. The best walleye bite has been during low light periods. Sunfish and crappie bite all day. We plan on taking a break around noon at the Battle Point Park for lunch. Right now tentatively looking to connect around 8-9 at the access. Otherwise look for a red and white Warrior and connect with me, "Borch" on the water I'd you'd like. I might even have a fishing report really fresh fishing report for you.
  8. Hey fellas, I developed a free fishing phone app for my fellow fisherman. It’s called FishIQ. I broke down 10 species by their location based on the water temperature. So if you’re looking for quick pointers or interested on where to find other species throughout the seasons give it a try! Hopefully it leads to more fish at the boat!

  15. I was wondering if and there is any good fishing in Hastings during the summertime lake Rebecca, lake Isabella, Vermilion River, or anywhere off the banks of the Mississippi? I haven't caught anything yet this year and I am itching to catch anything now. Just a fyi I just bank fish. Thanks in advance!
  16. I know the lakes are open and that means some the first open water fishing spots are producing. Any one out there catching em yet? I will be riggin the ultra light up today so I can stop on my way home from work.
  17. Anyone know if there's a shore bite going on in the Annandale area?
  18. Simple question and don't give up your hotspots: You think crappies will be reachable by shore yet? By this weekend? It's gonna be nice, but a little windy. I'm heading out with the kids and we'll be hitting a few shore spots on different lakes within the same latitudes as the twin cities, but just outside of the cities. Just curious what you all think based on your findings or experience.

    Moose's reports

Went to a small lake up around Mille lacs lake and found 20-28 inches of ice. The access looked like some busted it up, so eyeguy and I walked out. We caught bluegills and crappies on plastics. It was windy and cold but we got a few nice ones.
  21. Well im hoping that maybe ill be able to find a little insight as to how i can feed my ice fishing addiction on the weekend. While working all week its not that I have to travel alot to find a lake. Just that i plunged into my addiction being a novice at best. Looking for some advice on what to look for when choosing lakes and how to go about pursuit on the lake.

  23. Fishing Report from Flag Island Resort 1/30/17 The weather this past week up here in the angle has been pretty unstable with temps in the single digits and closer to the thirties and now snow flurries today. The fish have still been biting and anglers are still taking home limits every day. On the Minnesota side, anglers are catching a good mix of fish including Walleye, Sauger, Perch, Pike and Smallmouth Bass. Eel Pout will be spawning within the next couple of weeks. The depths we have been fishing with success is 20-26 feet and in 13-14 feet from 4-6pm in current. The areas we are fishing are on rock reefs, rock points, rubble rock and sandbars. Rattling flyers, buck shots, spoons and plain hooks on dead sticks. Hot colors include red, pink, gold and silver. Most days jigging is out producing dead sticks. Over on the Ontario side the Crappie bite is still good and holding. Jigging with a plastic on a Tungsten jig with a wax worm has been the most successful tactic. The Crappies are in the mud eating mostly mayfly larvae in 30 feet of water. The best locations are in deep mud holes near structure. The magic colors are still glow white and pink. The Walleye bite has also remained and we are finding them at the end of deep points and reefs between 25 and 32 feet of water using frozen shiners. Many anglers have been catching several smallmouth bass and we just wanted to make it known that these are illegal fish in the wintertime in Ontario. If one were to bite you must immediately release them. As always it is recommended to stay on staked trails with the ever changing ice conditions due to the high current in many areas. One last thing to note is that when crappie fishing the mortality rate is very high for catch and release, we recommend targeting another species once you have caught your limit. Until next week, good luck fishing! Guides Ray King, Dan Schmidt, Jeremy Glessing and Cale Albers Flag Island Resort 218-223-8011

  25. Just moved to South Minneapolis (three blocks from Minnehaha Park), and was curious what are some decent lakes around the metro area to catch some fish. I'm not picky. I don't need monsters. I'm fine catching the dinks. But I'm not from Minnesota, so my knowledge of Metro Lakes is limited. The woman and I have been out to Waconia and then tried Nokomis a few weeks ago, too. Just not sure how to fish some of these lakes or where to find info, like lake maps, structure, etc. I know a good fisherman keeps great secrets, but any help would be greatly appreciated.
