  1. Will be up in the sawbill area this weekend any info on any of these lakes spots colors techniques I would appreciate any info
  2. After fishing every handful in years in Minnesota for 40 years, I'm FINALLY going to bring my wife up to Vermillion and see it for the first time. I'm chasing smallmouth and pike only (well, I'll gladly wrestle with a fooled Musky but not fishing for them). If the largemouth fishing is better than the smallmouths, we'd probably chase some of them too. Staying at Ludlows on the island. Boy I'd love ANY help with where to start my searching for the smallies and pike and what to key in on that time of year. I'll have basically two days to fish and will have my own bass boat. I am an
  3. Hey guys! Some buddy's and I usually make the trip up to the Sioux Narrows of Lake of the Woods in June. This year with the border being closed, we went up to Lake Vermilion instead. It was our first time being on the lake. We caught quality fish of every species. Video linked below!
  4. Does anybody have any experience with Wilson lake? It got good reports on the DNR survey but I’ve never fished it. looking for walleye in northerns.
  5. Got a flyer in the mail the other day from these folks. Anybody check them out yet? Looks like a brand new start up business. Looks like they offer everything the others don't provide-customer service related. I heard a few months ago that possibly two new barge services were coming to Vermilion, this is one!
  6. Looking for large leeches. I am only able to find small ones. Any bait chops still have large.
  7. After several months of Chemo treatments, bi-weekly lab and Dr. visits my Leukemia cancer went into complete remission allowing my first time on the lake this soft water season. What a joy it was to wet a line again. My son picked up a 2019 18 ft. Tracker, Helix 9 Si/Di, Lakemaster Chip, Minn Kota Ulterra 80 W/pilot auto Stow/Deploy. What an awesome rig. After ½ hour or so trying all the Helix 9 and Ulterra features we turned on “follow the contour" at 19 FOW on the Lakemaster contour. Sonar water depths varied 14’ to 22’ tracking the 19’ contour. I turned on my Navionics boating app track to
  8. Hey; Just reaching out to others who have or may have a greater knowledge of where to locate a good source for trapping crayfish in the Twin Cities Metro Area. I have been working the rivers and have found some good locations, but the population of people in those areas have created challenges. Mainly, not leaving things alone that don't belong to you. I had found a good resource for the invasive Rusty Crayfish and was doing well trapping those, but as the weather got nicer and more people were looking for places to fish along shore lines, my traps were being disturbed, and worse yet,
  9. When was the last time you heard anyone rant and rave about Eurasian Water Milfoil? Introduced to MN in 1987 and through the 90’s, we complained, complained, blamed the DNR, cried that this invasive weed was going to kill off many fish because the invasive plant overtook native vegetation. DNR, lake associations and others monitored lake assesses for years to prevent transfer to no avail. Were creatures of habit and don’t like change. And NO Eurasians Water Milfoil did not kill off all the fish, as lots of fish still are caught along the much easier defined weed lines. Of the 388 DNR reported
  10. So after returning to Minnesota after living pretty much everywhere else, I have finally returned to fishing. Didn't realize how much I missed it until I started again. I'm tired of fishing the river under the bridge like a troll so I'm looking for some good spots to shore fish around Ottertail. My regular spot is too warm now and the fish have moved on. I'm one of the odd balls who's not into muskies or walleyes. Really prefer bluegill and bass. I'm a bobber, nightcrawler and beer kinda girl. Any advice on where to go? How are the lakes in Maplewood State Park.

  12. On the south end... The deep summer "Dog Days" patterns for walleyes are in full swing producing excellent fishing. As a rule, the big walleyes are hanging out on the deep mud in 30 - 34' of water. Two main techniques, drifting or trolling spinners with crawlers or leeches at about 1.0 - 1.25 MPH. Hammered gold, hammered silver and glow white are good starting colors. The second technique is trolling crankbaits through various schools of walleyes over the deep mud. Switch colors often but some starters, pink uv firetiger, chrome / blue, firetiger, and gold. Some walleyes are still being
  13. Has anyone caught any muskie/musky on any of the Horseshoe/Sauk River Chain of Lakes this year?
  14. Me and my buddy are here in emily MN for the next couple days, we both love fishing and wanted to take a shot in the dark at finding someone that could get us out on the water fishing. We would pay you and pay for gas.

  16. On the south end... In addition to anglers catching good numbers of eater walleyes, there are a lot of big walleyes being caught and released. Now is that deep summer pattern anglers look forward to. Two main techniques. Drifting or pulling spinners with crawlers or leeches. Hammered gold, glow white and glow red are good colors. The second technique is trolling crankbaits over the deep mud. Trolling is a fun technique with no snags, miles and miles of space and thousands of walleyes. 29-34' has been best. Still some walleyes are being caught in various shallow areas based on forage o
  17. We usually go to Canada but obviously we can't this year. Booked a resort on Vermillion mid Aug. Never fished it, this will probably be the only time. Any advice on where to start? We fish walleye, northern, and smallies. Obviously not looking for exact spots but just general info. If you can help me out with a spot or two and can email me even better and much appreciated. We only harvest to eat for the days we are having a fish fry during our stay. Thanks!
  18. On the south end... Great walleye fishing this week. Lots of limits, plenty of larger slot fish (19.5" - 28") and trophy walleyes (over 28"). The MTT Photo and Release Walleye Tournament winners had over a 9 lb average each for 5 fish both days of the tournament. Lots of big walleyes in the lake. Different parts of the lake have different things happening. In some areas, the mayfly hatch was over. In other areas, it was just firing up. Fishing was better where the hatch was not in full force. The go to presentations are spinners with crawlers or trolling crankbaits. Nice schoo
  19. So looking at some property on long lake right by Ottertail lake and wondering how the fishing is on it and the depths on it? Thanks for any information!!!!
  20. I’ll be on Birch Lake - Ely - in late July. Anyone familiar with good spots?
  21. 7.6.20 Sunset Lodge Fishing Report Minnesota Lake of the Woods Walleye action continues in less than 10’ casting Rapala’s, floating leeches or pulling crawlers in rocks and sand bays. Walleye are also showing back up on classic structure including points and main lake reefs. Trolling deep diving Rapala’s has been producing very large pike and slot walleye in 12 to 18 ft. of water. Lake of the Woods Musky opener was successful in shallow, weeded areas. With one over 50” boated and the rare 49.5” as well as many mid 40” fish. With water temps increasing into t
  22. any current musky info? Looking for new water since can’t get to LOW.
  23. I haven't seen any reports locally this year. The other forums all have updated reports.
  24. Got out on Fathers day with the Kayak down the Mississippi River for some good ole Smallmouth Bass action. River was low which made a great float and the smallies were hungry! They just couldn't resist the wacky worm once again. We have such an amazing fishery here in MN, glad to call this state home. Enjoy.
