  3. Anyone been out on Pelican yet? If so how much Ice did you find and are there any pressure ridges coming off either side of Gooseberry yet? Thanks.
  4. I'll post results and ice reports for you all about the trip to Cedar this weekend I'll post pics because I know we going to catch some good fish. anyone else care sharing how they've done ice fishing on this lake much appreciated and if you found a crappie/walleye spot pm me if your looking for northern and muskie in this lake i'll point you in the right direction there.
  5. Anybody ever get any eyes outta bear lake down by barnum? Looking to take the wife out for some panfish with hopes of a bonus Walter or two.
  6. Went out to Sugar this afternoon. First time on the lake so I wasn't expecting much. Good thing. Had one school move through that covered the water column from 4 feet down to 15 feet (20 feet of water). It took a good couple of minutes for them to clear but nothing was interested in biting. The ice was about 8" with the top 1-2" being the refreeze from the rain. Several ATVs and a SXS or two made their way across the lake easily with no snow pack. This one might be a fun one to try once spring rolls around and I can get the 'yak out.
  7. Hello, We have been coming North from iowa for the last 5 years or so fishing cass in the fall. We had originally planned on coming back and staying on kitchi this year the first week of october. Starting to give Winnie some thought instead this year. Whats the general consensus on the board in terms of lake preference? We fish walleye the majority of the time but also will spend a fair amount fishing musky/pike. I havent seen the lake survey reports come out yet this year, but it had appeared both lakes were having a nice run of producing good fish. Might wait until we see
  8. I would like to hear some fishing reports for this area, Plese help me out. Thanks in advanced
  9. Walleye: Are still scattered as they are currently in transition. We were finding them in the fresh cabbage in 8’-12’ of water, as well as off the deeper structure in 18’-32’ of water. For the shallow bite we were having the best luck using a bullet sinker with a spinner rig and either a crawler of fathead on. In the deeper water and structure we using a bottom bouncer with a smiley blade rig and slow death hook tipped with a crawler. Jigs and minnows have still been producing as well, look to the rocks on windblown points. Panfish: Sunfish Can be found shallow in 4’-12’ of water on the weed f
  10. Anyone have ice report for Lake Ripley? Really getting the itch.
  11. Hi what chances would I have of fishing Little Mary The south bay Of Mary this weekend. heard I few guys out this last weekend. Thanks
  12. Any reports on ice conditions around the Mankato area, including Madison, Duck, and George?
  13. Ice conditions have varied extremely across the Northland. From smaller lakes laden with slush and heavy snow having roughly 6”-9” of ice, to larger lakes having scant snow cover and moderately fishable ice in upwards of 5”. Although ice conditions have room for improvement, the fishing has been rather exceptional. The early season Walleye bite, is never disappointing to say the least. We are finding them in 6’-12’ of water and also in 17’-28’ on area lakes, working edges of the breaks off of flats or shoreline points. Small Spoons tipped with a minnow head or jigging raps have been the best.
  14. Looking at getting my 14 year old son a trip for xmas, up Gunflint Trail in June. I have been looking at Gunflint Pines or Hungry Jack lodge. We will be tenting it and would be primarily after walleye and smallies. Any suggestions or experiences of other campgrounds are appreciated.

  16. Hello, heading up Oct 3, 2019 for a fall rip. We always have done a May or June Trip the last 10 yrs. What can we expect for the fishing in the fall. much appreciated, Mark
  17. Well, my annual trip was only an extended weekend this year, as I had to use my actual vacation to go to Florida for a wedding. Drove up Friday morning after work, and was able to hit Two Island Lake for a few hours in the evening. As soon as we boated to my secret spot, a storm cloud moved over and the wind was insane! Temps dropped, and I only caught a few smallies. on Saturday we went to Greenwood Lake. Even though we caught about 50 bass, it was still a slow day. Weather was perfect. Bugs were horrible! My dad caught a nice lake trout. My daughter caught her first
  18. Went fishing on Basswood on Sunday. It rained all day but we had a good time thanks to Mike Stark and The Ely Fishing Guide Company.
  19. Hello, Flying up from Florida to visit the folks and we are going to spend a week (September 14th-21st) on Shagawa. Staying at Ladybug, so will have a pontoon, but I imagine no depthfinder. I found a map and found some areas to try but it’s been 23 years since I lived in Minnesota. Anyone kindly have any suggestions on tactics or depth? I.e. would we better trolling the shore, or trying 25’-30’? Or slip bobbering points/islands, and how deep? I imagining we might be flying a bit blind on a new lake without a depthfinder. Thanks Y’all, Craig
  20. Staying on gunflint side in September Want to hear what everyone is using while packing light as well at what test for line. I'm thinking one rod only. 2 piece. I will be targeting walleye. I'm thinking 10lb test to stand up to the inevitable northern but fear may be too heavy for the eyes. Thanks for any input. Also taking GPS locations and personal hotspots. Lol.
