  1. Fished hard for 3 days on Big Stone Lake and the bite was very, very tough. The nice Marked a lot of fish and just couldn't get them to bite. Did manage some dandy perch and trophy gills,(released) but not a lot of numbers. Saturday late afternoon we stuck 3 gills over 10". My nephew had one that was at least 10 1/2" but released it before I could measure or get a pic. Sunday we had 2 more at or just under 10". Had to downsize to get bit. Did catch a couple on set lines with fatheads. Spoons didn't get bit often. Tungsten jigs or flies tipped with plastics or eurolarvae got most of th

  4. On the south end... Some big walleyes caught this week up at Lake of the Woods along with eaters and saugers. Good fishing still happening 16 - 22 miles out on the ice and most reports are good. Ice conditions on LOW remain excellent at around 30 inches where most are fishing. Best colors vary but on sunny days gold has been consistent. On cloudy days, glow pink, green, orange and chartreuse good colors. Don't be afraid to downsize presentation if fish are not active. Small spoon with a minnow head. A plain hook with a small minnow can be very effective. Electronics helping anglers ca
  5. Fished several NE Wright county lakes got on some really nice bass with panfish jigs the smaller the better. Had a flurry for about half hour many largemouth caught. Then did a night bite for the crappies It really pays to move around. Also learned from some on the MInnow or not to minnow thread to upsize I used a small forage minnow spoon with 3-4 spikes that really was the ticket. Thanks all for the help everyone. The fish seem to me to be just starting to move a bit shallower with the warmer weather coming this weekend it should just get better. Most of the fish were in 12-17 feet of water.
  6. Member only ...looking for some reports near Wright county area or even west and north of there. Been fishing this small lake out near South Haven and been crushing 9.5 inch gills and 12 inch crappies the last 2 months. Went back last week after take a 2 week break and everything was suspended and tiny. Before everything was just off weeds deep and coming from botto....not sure what happened but fish were loaded like a xmas on the flx28, maybe oxygen levels? First pic of the crappies took me and friend 1 hour and 20 holes... so much fun!!!!
  7. Hoping to do a trip up to leech 21st of March. anyone have any suggestions on places to get onto the lake or areas to target? Have few rigs planned so should be able to get around. Any information greatly appreciated Thank you

    Good and Bad

I was sitting on the lake the other day and this thought crossed my mind. With all the social media, forums, face book groups now a days you have to wonder how are anglers judged? For instance how are anglers judging other anglers? Are they judged on there fish pics, there success catch rate? I would say in todays industry unfortunately yes most throw judgement on how good of a angler you are by how good your day on the ice was. Well I want to tell you there's not one Angler out there includeing myself that hasn't got a good butt kicking and struck out from time to time . Unless there ego won

  14. On the south end... A lot of nice walleyes and saugers caught this week up at Lake of the Woods. Many resorts traveling 16 - 22 miles out on the ice and most reports are very good. Lots of big walleyes this week. Ice conditions on LOW remain excellent. Jig one line and don't be afraid to use noise such as rattles or vibration to draw fish in. Have a deadstick with a live minnow in the second hole for neutral fish. Best colors vary but gold, glow, green, orange and pink good colors. Electronics tell you where fish are and how they are reacting to your bait and presentation. Pike angler
  15. Went to a local Meeker county lake tonight around 12:30 stayed till 7 Fish started around 5 pm got lots of sunfish and crappies. Used a spoon to lure them in but would not take it started with a larger Maynards jig then game on also I tried a smaller jig but no luck sometimes upsizing is the ticket in 13 FOW. Had a dead stick out with a crappie minnow only got one larger perch. Paid to jump around lakes and not just stay on one lake. About 6:30 the noise from vehicles coming and going slowed thing up very fast had a good night and a boost to my ego HA HA I thought I lost the touch sometimes j
  16. Ruby Lake by Marcell, MN has massive 28-30+ walleyes in the lake. It's a best kept secret. The small landing can only handle 3 trucks or so. If you want to catch massive walleyes, just use a 1/4 oz lindy rig, plain hook, and a leech or crawler. I'm not gonna give you the coordinates, you need to find them. Good luck, Java Guy

  19. Hi everyone. I'm going to fish on Knife Lake by Mora for the first time this weekend. Does anyone have any advice on locations or tactics? I'm hoping to find Perch, Walleyes, or Crappies.
  20. Went to go panfishing and found myself in a bass feeding frenzy in the weeds. It is crazy to see how slow these big bass inhale the bait in the winter. First fish probably pushed 5lbs. Too much fun on light gear!
  21. Got fishing out of the NW side of Mille Lacs at 5:30pm on Friday and set up in 29 ft. and fished until 9:30am on Sun. Fishing was OK. Caught 10 all were 17" - 25" and was able to keep 2. All but one fish was caught at night and only 2 were caught jigging. We also missed at least 10 and had a handful of them halfway up the hole. My question is, has the DNR explained why or how they came up with 21" - 23" as the keeper size? I know that earlier they kept moving the size a person could keep because they were targeting the same year class. But now, the keeper size has been the sa
  22. On the south end... A great week of ice fishing with good numbers and some very quality fish. Ice conditions on LOW remain excellent. Resorts working hard to keep fish houses on walleyes and saugers. Most anglers fishing 27' - 36' with ice roads 7 - 20 miles long. Resorts traveled farther out which improved fishing. Jig one line to draw fish in and get them excited. Have a deadstick with a live minnow in the second hole for neutral fish. Rattles and vibration can help in the stained waters of LOW. Gold, glow, wonder bread and pink good colors. Electronics a big plus and can be rented

    Maki kind of Day

This morning me and a bud decided to hit a Wilmar area lake we both like to fish in search of some Pies. We met at the lake access pre dawn enjoyed a cup of coffee and discussed our game plan. We looked over my Lake insight chip and some of my previous waypoints from years past and decided on two different target areas. Being it was Midwinter I suggested we target two underwater points with steep breaks and deep basins close by. We both grabbed augers and made some grid patterns off the tip of the first point and started the search. Didn't take long and we both were marking. Fish were suspend
  24. I went to diamond 2 times on Saturday. The first time mid morning hole hopped like a mad man just tiny perch. Then I decided to try a night bite for crappies got 2 beauties on hook and minnow 12 inchers lost 1 and that boys and girls was it. Not whining but it has really been a rough fickle bite this year. Just a little update. I would love to get on a sunnie bite I can sit all day catching 5-6 incher's don't bother me at all.
