  1. Tried a shallow back bay yesterday. Few sunnies and smaller crappies were there but hanging tight to the deepest parts. Couldn't get out to them from shore but guys in boats were getting some. Sure it will be very different lake to lake, but gonna take more increase in water temp to really get going.
  2. The warmer temps and high winds looks like it busted the last of the ice up overnight. I see a lot of white on the distant shoreline I assume that is ice piled up on shore over there. Really want to get the dock in but its cold and waves pounding the shore not a great combo for that. Having fun watching the eagles, ducks, swan, geese, crane, loons, pheasant, foxes, otters, racoons, mink, deer, skunks, gophers, gulls, pelicans, and all other kinds of tweety birds all sighted in the last week (some on the cam at night). Fun time of year to see stuff moving through. The large flocks of tweet
  3. Learn all about Leech Lake. The history, musky fishing, walleye fishing, perch fishing, panfish and tullibee. Ice Fishing and Open water along with seasonal trends. This will be outdoors and location will be share once you email me at [email protected] Cost will be $100 per person.
  4. Fished a few spots on the Horseshoe chain this afternoon pretty slow yet surface water temps were around 35 degrees. Water levels are up and plenty of bottom content floating in some of the channels and bays. Felt great to get back on some open water and use the long Rods again. Plenty of boats out there running around.
  5. Really cant wait for some of these Regulations to be put into Place on Some lakes. Way overdue IMO. Please when these meetings are formed lets all try and make it to some and give some honest quality input. Even if you are against some of the New regulation limit changes being talked about. We all need to come together and figure out someway to protect our Trophy Panfish. So all of us and future generations can enjoy the future!
  6. I don't get out much for ice-fishing as I have two young girls and another one on the way. Live in Eden Prairie and I'm interested in bringing them out Ice Fishing when ever possible. I'd like to know about fishing Lake Riley. Anyone have updated fishing stories they could share, tips or tricks for kids?
  7. Any people on here still go after smelt?. Sure some of the old timers on here did it in the past. Was pretty popular back in the day. We did it for years took a revamped school bus up with a crew guys every year. Was quite the experience. Plenty of adult beverages campfires smelt nets and total mayham. Saw some pretty crazy stuff happen up there guys slipping in the riveretc and luckily grabbing a fellow smelters net to get pulled in before they go swept all the way down. The yell of smelt smelt was the dinner bell to start scooping when they started running. We always hit the Lester river
  8. So me and a buddy of mine are thinking about stocking a gravel pit we own with suckers. Mainly white suckers but we’ll happily go with other species!! My question is this: Do sucker eggs NEED a constant flow of water to hatch? Or will they be fine in a gravel pit or any lake/pond that doesn’t have any flow coming in or out? This will make or break our plans for the pit, thanks in advance!!!
  9. For Current Forest Lake-Hinckley-Lindstrom-Pine City-Rush City Fishing Reports - Click Here. Let's see your pics and fishing reports here. Post em up. Reply to Topic - Yellow Button. Spent the evening out on Forest, Lake's 1 and 3, and it was tough!!!!! Didn't even manage a bite. Tried the weed edges and transition lines with nothing. Looks like the weed line is around 11-13 feet from everything I could find. My normal spots didn't produce anything. Board is slow, anyone else out fishing on forest?
  10. I heard from a buddy that there will be no fishing allowed on the river this spring. Any truth to that? I think it is a good idea otherwise there will be people coming up in droves as usual. Stay in your house and say some prayers. I am stuck in my house down here in Texas and hope to eventually get back up North. Canada border closed so I couldn't hit my favorite spots on Rainy Lake anyway.
  11. Today on West Rush, in a smaller bay. I Stepped on a unseen drain hole or enlarged old fishing hole today. 1 leg went all the way thru. Luckily other leg and i stayed on top. I was traveling where I knew it was only 4-5 feet deep. All ice I drilled was 13-16 inches but soft. Hot shower and clean undies never felt so good. lol. Be safe everyone!
  12. 2020 Current Fishing Reports - Click Here. Show us your pics. thought I should start this topic up for the up coming ice season. with the recent warm weather, it may be a another week or more for safe ice travel. please be safe out there.
  13. First pic is from April 1 2017 in the kayak. Second pic is April 21 2018 on 18 inches of ice. Same lake. Looks like 2020 will be like 2017.
  14. Ice fishing is still happening on Lake of the Woods. Some resorts / hotels / outfitters are open and have adjusted their business model to adhere to the new rules with COVID - 19. Additional cleaning and disinfecting is in place. Fish house rentals, lodging, ice roads and take out or delivered meals are available by some resorts. Contact resorts directly or look at their Facebook pages for helpful info. On the south end... Some great March ice fishing continues. Anglers fishing anywhere from 27 - 33' of water. Ice conditions on LOW remain excellent with freezing temps keeping ice fi
  15. Hi all, my two girls are clawing at each other and its only been a week...… I need to get them outside. Thinking of driving up and doing some tip up fishing for an afternoon on Sunday or Monday. I have never done pike fishing in the winter on Mille Lacs and am just curious if anyone could give me any pointers? Don't need exact spots, just general areas to start and maybe show them a few pike on flags. Any advice or ideas would be appreciated, thanks!
  16. got back today from the cabin, my biggest fear since jan just became a sad reality. got out on the lake about 1 pm, drilled holes in 4 different areas ranging from 7 to 14 ft of water. had my underwater camera down and all I seen where dead fish ALL OVER the bottom. even seen a dead bullhead. later in the afternoon I thought i'd go check out the crappie hole. never marked a fish is 3 1/2 hours. did have a bullhead about inch and a half long come up the hole gasping for air...…...and it never left. just for curiosity drove past the holes I drilled earlier to see if any fish same up
  17. Got a report that crappies are biting good. Snowmobile traffic is fine but nothing else.
  18. With the social distancing advise going on right now. I decided to do some tackle organizing and replace some hooks etc go through some of my gear in my office . Just wanted to give a shout out recomendation on some great products and storage options I've been using for last few years. I really like them ! One is the Wraptor, (Canvas craft crankbait holder.}They come in a few different sizes and are very slick. I have a few of there X large loaded with multiple cranks, and some of the medium, smaller ones packed with jigs ,bottom bouncers, slip sinkers etc. Endless uses for them. They fold

    Pine river dam

Riffle dam should improve fishing in the near future being the fish can now migrate up stream from the white fish chain on norway lake pine river
  21. Ice Conditions are very exceptional still as there is not much snow left atop, or at all on most lakes. Ice thickness has remained consistent for the most part from 26” to 36” of ice. Continue to use caution however, especially on the inlets, outlets, where springs may be present and of course along the shallows and shorelines as light precipitation, sun, and warm weather can begin to erode ice extremely fast. We are on some of the best fishing we have had yet this season as far as panfish are concerned. For the most part the bluegills are on the drop offs of weed points and inside corner
  22. Well I've been busy and finally home to fish locally!!! Saturday we hit a lake I haven't been on since deer hunting. Second spot we tried we found them! Gills and crappies were in 12 feet of water 2-3 feet below the ice. Ton of fish. Had to increase our size of presentation to deter smaller fish. Saturday night after a great lunch and most taking a nap we got back out. At the access guy flew buy us as we unloaded and dropped his suv into the ice. Had to get out his passenger side door to ask me to pull him out. Hey I made $5 pulling him out, $4 in quarters lol. Fishing

    Lite flite lazer

Ordered yesterday got it today. Great deal online from Scheels. Looks to be a great auger and it’s about 3.5 inches longer than the k so that’s nice. I was thinking about buying a 9 amh battery for the k but this was a lot less.
  24. Does anyone have any input on this topic thankyou.
