Rainy lake ice conditions
Muskies posted a topic in Crane-Kabetogama-Namakan-Rainy-Rainy River Fishing Reports
Was out on rainy last weekend. The ice has melted about 6’ along the south shorelines and under every bridge, causeway, 7 mile and bears pass. I would guess May 4 or so for ice out but again...just a guess. Ontario fishing opener is scheduled for May 16. As for the border, it’s still closed to all nonessential travellers which means no border crossing either way...but let’s hope it will open soon...stay healthy! -

minnow trap thieves
jim curlee posted a topic in Vermilion-Pelican Lake-Chisholm-Cook-Ely-Eveleth-Hibbing-Orr-Virginia Fishing Reports - Hunting
Put out three minnow traps yesterday on a couple of cricks near us, we live south of Cook. Went back to check them this morning, and some lowlife scumbag had stolen one. WTF is wrong with people, it was a homemade minnow trap, not worth a thing. Unbelievable! Jim -
Washington lake???
Djsnej123456 posted a topic in Annandale-Buffalo-Hutchinson Fishing Reports - Hunting - Events
I’m spending a few days with a friend at the end of June in Litchfield “ covid 19 pending, lol”. He’s a walleye guy and I’m a bass guy. Was looking at hitting up lake Washington for some Smallies/largemouth. I’m guessing it will be late post spawn early summer transition. Any help on locating some good fish? Smallies especially? I appreciate the help. -
Looking for spots near the F/M area on the Red to catch catfish. What tributaries are known for catfish or other species? Where does a person go to look for catfish on the Red River? Do dams work well?

Fishing lakes near Rochester MN
papadarv posted a topic in Fishing Minnesota - (Spring, Summer & Fall)
A friend of mine, starting in June, will be doing a 120 day stem cell procedure at Mayo combatting bone cancer. My Wife & I will be spending several weeks in June/July/August moral support with the family in Rochester. I am not familiar with area. Are there any lakes reasonable distance that may produce a fish or two? His son & 2 younger grandsons, who love fishing, will also join us. Something of reasonable distance we can drive to for a few hours of fishing to take the grandsons mind off the situtation. -
Horshoe Chain Open Water Fishing Reports
IceHawk posted a topic in St Cloud Area Fishing Reports - Hunting - Events
Been doing a little fishing lately . Been good one day and the next not so good. Tough fishing conditions when one day you have 60 degree temps and next its 40 . The best spring fishing usally happens with more consistent weather something we haven't really had yet this spring. Spring fishing is all about water temps. Warmer water equals action! Colder surface temps not so much I've been finding mixed surface temps in different bays canals all over the chain. Some are right around 37 others in high 40's. A lot of the panfish are still staging on the outside edges in somewhat deeper water 8-1 -
Looks like that is the date for stay at home to end. The one from fb sounds fake for the 13th

Boat Fishing LAKE SUPERIOR NEAR DULUTH
steeplechaser2 posted a topic in BWCA-Duluth-Gunflint Trail-North Shore Lake Superior Fishing Reports - Hunting - Events
We plan to search for some coho, lakers, chinook, or any fish willing to bite this weekend. I think we will head out of McQuade. Any reports yet? I've seen boats, but not much in the report arena. -
Tried a shallow back bay yesterday. Few sunnies and smaller crappies were there but hanging tight to the deepest parts. Couldn't get out to them from shore but guys in boats were getting some. Sure it will be very different lake to lake, but gonna take more increase in water temp to really get going.

ICE OUT!
whateverisbiting posted a topic in Alexandria-Miltona-Ottertail-Battle Lake-Perham-Fergus Falls Area Fishing Reports - Hunting
The warmer temps and high winds looks like it busted the last of the ice up overnight. I see a lot of white on the distant shoreline I assume that is ice piled up on shore over there. Really want to get the dock in but its cold and waves pounding the shore not a great combo for that. Having fun watching the eagles, ducks, swan, geese, crane, loons, pheasant, foxes, otters, racoons, mink, deer, skunks, gophers, gulls, pelicans, and all other kinds of tweety birds all sighted in the last week (some on the cam at night). Fun time of year to see stuff moving through. The large flocks of tweet -

Fished a few spots on the Horseshoe chain this afternoon pretty slow yet surface water temps were around 35 degrees. Water levels are up and plenty of bottom content floating in some of the channels and bays. Felt great to get back on some open water and use the long Rods again. Plenty of boats out there running around.

Really cant wait for some of these Regulations to be put into Place on Some lakes. Way overdue IMO. Please when these meetings are formed lets all try and make it to some and give some honest quality input. Even if you are against some of the New regulation limit changes being talked about. We all need to come together and figure out someway to protect our Trophy Panfish. So all of us and future generations can enjoy the future!

Lake Riley - Kids fishing help.
Murphy posted a topic in MN Twin Cities Metro Area Fishing Reports - Hunting
I don't get out much for ice-fishing as I have two young girls and another one on the way. Live in Eden Prairie and I'm interested in bringing them out Ice Fishing when ever possible. I'd like to know about fishing Lake Riley. Anyone have updated fishing stories they could share, tips or tricks for kids? -
Any people on here still go after smelt?. Sure some of the old timers on here did it in the past. Was pretty popular back in the day. We did it for years took a revamped school bus up with a crew guys every year. Was quite the experience. Plenty of adult beverages campfires smelt nets and total mayham. Saw some pretty crazy stuff happen up there guys slipping in the riveretc and luckily grabbing a fellow smelters net to get pulled in before they go swept all the way down. The yell of smelt smelt was the dinner bell to start scooping when they started running. We always hit the Lester river

So me and a buddy of mine are thinking about stocking a gravel pit we own with suckers. Mainly white suckers but we’ll happily go with other species!! My question is this: Do sucker eggs NEED a constant flow of water to hatch? Or will they be fine in a gravel pit or any lake/pond that doesn’t have any flow coming in or out? This will make or break our plans for the pit, thanks in advance!!!
