  1. Today
  2. Thanks for the tip something new to try
  3. I wish barb less hooks were more available. I'd switch, heard they come out easier....
  4. Yesterday
  5. The gulp crawlers in packages are tougher than those in the alive container. The one in the picture is from the alive container. Both versions work well on spinner and slow death rigs.
  6. Gulp crawler. In the spot the walleyes were going in there was a pile of 3-5" perch that tore up the real crawlers. Gulp crawlers took care of the issue and the eyes liked them too.
  7. When we go to Quetico, barbless or mashed down barbs is mandatory. To tell the truth I haven't noticed that we lose more fish with barbless than barbed. Not catching muskies though. Pike, walleye, bass, lake trout.
  8. Vermilion might be down a little, but not much. Your lakes might be different.
  9. Is that a gulp worm? I am not on Osakis but cant fish with live bait without the bass, sunnies, and perch hammering it instantly.
  10. Last week
  11. My parents were up yesterday and Wednesday and they did pretty good. Out in the mud in about 33-34 feet. Lots of boats were trolling but they did well looking for pods of fish and then spot-locking over the top of them and jigging with leeches and frozen shiners.
  12. i havent been out in for atleast a month out there but check out walleye dan's facebook, he usually posts a report weekley; https://www.visitbrainerd.com/blog/fishing-report-july-16-2018/
  13. Hi, I’m looking for a fresh report for this weekend. Thanks in advance! Good Fishing!
  14. Is the water starting to recede on the lakes East of Orr? I heard it was really high on Myrtle. We're coming up to Black Duck in a week or so, just wondering if things are getting back more towards normal.

I’ve fished sylvan heavily the last two years. Done very well. Many nice pike, bass, walleye, and bluegill. For pike trolling shadraps pretty much any where will get you all the 20”-25” pike you want. Plenty of dence cover all over for bass and that is the usual bass presentations. And for gills in the spring the channel between the two bays was VERY good this past spring went three days in a row and got 2 limits each time ( two angles in the boat) and relesed many many more. Also the panfish limit on sylvan is 5 per person so be aware of that. I was out there 2 weeks ago and did ok. Again two limits of nice gills and a handful of pike but it took a lot of work to find them. I’m unsure of the walleye fishing out there but have heard it’s a good lake. Im not an expert on sylvan but know a little so hope this helps ya out. Good luck!
  16. The last two times on the river have been slow to say the least. Trolled Shipping channels, river channels, and all the flats. Crawler harnesses and crank baits. Anybody having any luck out there?

If the water is that clear and you can see 17-20 feet down, the fish will be very spooky. And if the sun is out, they will be looking for relief from the sun in the form of shade. Night time might actually be a better option.
  18. below the darn is a park there too if I remember right, Plus Garden City has a park by the river too I think..
  19. Good fishing in the Blue Earth river too. Also, a short drive to Rapidan can be productive.

Welcome to the site @eg_gophers2124 I have never even seen the lake but these screen shots might help. Navionics Judging by the Lake Finder report, it’s a super clear lake; 17-20 foot clarity but with plenty of weeds. A couple shots of the weed report. Starting from scratch, I would head to the southwest area. The southern basin has better looking structure too. You might do well simply working edges of the emergent weeds with spinnerbaits in low light and weedless frogs or spoons up in the weeds when it gets to be mid day. Crawler under a slip bobber on the weed edges could do well also. It’s purely guessing on my part. Hopefully someone with experience on the lake will chime in. Good luck!
  21. walked that creek to the river many years!!! again home area!!!!
  22. Bring your spinning rod and fish for walleyes or white bass at the confluence. Wherever the river is pounding the shoreline fish the current breaks for big flatties. Heavy fiberglass rod with a sturdy baitcaster and 50 lb power pro line will be effective. Fish the head of snags for channels. Setup just like a Lindy rig for them with 1 oz to 5 oz no roll sinker and a big live bait like a 7" bullhead or even larger sucker for flatties. Use cut strips of bait off a large sucker or something similar for channels. Frogs can be good too. Have fun.

Thank you Vermilliongold. This took care of the problem.
  24. Yes it is open. It is $7.00 this year. It is a nice access and I use it every time instead of one of the public accesses. It is on Hwy 24 & county rd 39. It is a little old lady that owns it and collects the money. There is a bucket and notepad to write your plate number on if she isn't home.
  25. We have rented a cabin on Sylvan Lake between Pillager and Brainerd for the family this weekend. My 13 year old really would like to find some bass and pike. I have never fished the lake and don't fish for bass or pike often, does anyone have a fishing report and tips of what depth/lures to use? We do have a boat to get around the lake. TIA
  26. Lake is connected to two others with zebra mussels The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources has confirmed a report of a zebra mussel in East Loon Lake in Otter Tail County. East Loon Lake is between and connected to East Spirit Lake and Sybil Lake, both of which were confirmed as having zebra mussels in 2016. A lake user contacted the DNR after finding a single adult zebra mussel in East Loon Lake, which DNR specialists confirmed through photos and the specimen itself. No additional zebra mussels were found during a follow-up survey. “It’s helpful that an alert individual contacted us when they suspected they’d found a zebra mussel,” DNR assistant invasive species specialist Mark Ranweiler said. “Because they kept the zebra mussel, we were able to confirm the species identification.” Whether or not a lake is listed as infested, Minnesota law requires boaters and anglers to: Clean watercraft and trailers of aquatic plants and prohibited invasive species, Drain all water by removing drain plugs and keeping them out during transport, and Dispose of unwanted bait in the trash. Some invasive species are small and difficult to see at the access. To remove or kill them, take one or more of the following precautions before moving to another waterbody: Spray with high-pressure water. Rinse with very hot water (120 degrees for at least two minutes or 140 degrees for at least 10 seconds). Dry for at least five days. Zebra mussels can compete with native species for food and habitat, cut the feet of swimmers, reduce the performance of boat motors, and cause expensive damage to water intake pipes. People should contact an area DNR aquatic invasive species specialist if they think they have found zebra mussels or any other invasive species. More information is available at mndnr.gov/ais.
