ABOUT THIS BOOK
The Brainerd-Mille Lacs Fishing Guide OUT OF STOCK represents the accumulated wisdom of many of the area's top experts-tournament anglers, fishing guides, bait and tackle shop dealers, DNR staff, fishing writers, resort operators, lakeside homeowners, and old-timers who have fished these waters for a lifetime.
We asked them to select their favorite water, mark the hotspots on a contour map, and tell us how to fish those spots. Our contributors took great care in correcting (and in some cases, totally redrawing) the lake maps to make them as accurate as possible. They added details such as sunken islands, bars, rocks,
reefs, stumps, and boating hazards that are not marked on other maps.
The primary purpose of the book is to show you where to find fish and what techniques the experts use to catch them. A glossary is included as well. We also consulted government agencies for the latest information on new public accesses, shoreline parks, and camping facilities.
This guide identifies shore-fishing sites that have the best track record for consistently producing fish. We made a special effort to include the location of fishing piers and other shoreline facilities that are accessible to handicapped anglers.
ABOUT THE BOOK
The Twin Cities Fishing Guide represents the accumulated wisdom of many of the area's top experts -tournament anglers, guides, bait and tackle shop dealers, DNR staff, lakeside homeowners, and old-timers who have fished these waters for a lifetime.
We asked them to select their favorite water, mark the hotspots on a contour map, and tell us how to fish those spots. Our contributors took great care in correcting (and in some cases, totally redrawing) the lake maps to make them as accurate
as possible. They added details such as sunken islands, humps, bars, reefs, stumps, and boating hazards that are not marked on other maps.
The primary purpose of the book is to show you where to find fish and to share with you some of the techniques the experts
use to catch them. A Glossary section is included.
We also consulted government agencies for the latest information on the development of public accesses, shoreline parks, and camping facilities.
This guide identifies shorefishing sites that have the best track record for consistently producing fish. We made a special effort to include the location of fishing piers and other shoreline facilities that are accessible to handicapped anglers.
In this edition, we have included most of the smaller neighborhood lakes that are prime panfish waters because the majority of anglers fish primarily for panfish such as crappie, sunfish, and perch.
For each lake, we have included information about the population and average size of each species of fish. Here are the criteria we used. The sizes indicated for each species pertain only to the average sizes in the metro area and may not be valid for other parts of the state.
