The fall bite is just around the corner, and this bite can be better than the spring bite especially for big wallyes that are putting on weight and getting big. Traditionally every year around late September the bite is very good! Currently anglers on the Mississippi trolling crankbaits in 7 to 17 feet are catching walleye though these fish are scattered. Deep diving medium wobbling lures are working. Targeting the rock rip rap and wing dams with a cast is also effective. On Pool 3 and 4 the river is slow flowing and at the Hastings Lock and Dam is stage 4.33.
