Looking for August trip suggestions

1 post in this topic

Our family plans to get together near Duluth/Superior for the 3rd week of August. I'm trying to identify where to rent a good cabin on a lake with good Northern, Walleye, and pan fish fishing in that order. We'd like to rent a (motor) boat on that lake, or drive to nearby lakes where we can rent a boat for 2-3 days of fishing. We should have a canoe or rowboat at the cabin. Any advice on good fishing lakes and tackle is welcome, as is advice on lakes to avoid. We are not familiar with the Duluth area. If there is a better place to post this, please advise me. Thanks. confused.gif

The lakes took a beating and I was not out on Sunday to see the damage. Saturday I saw the first 4 to 5 inches turn soft. Be careful and check the ice conditions

Sometimes you need em that size.      You guys did push me over the edge so I had to go out Sunday afternoon.  Thanks for that.

I was going to try to go tomorrow (walking out in metro) despite the rain which appears to be light and I have a portable. Are you concerned about the ice conditions deteriorating throughout the day?  Or just for the rest of the week?
