The boys and I made a leisure Saturday of it. Left home at 8:00, caught the breakfast buffet at Uncle Bob's in Fosston, and put in at Mort's about 11:30.

Drifted a bobber over some of the humps west of Mort's and picked up 2 smaller walleyes, several slots, one small northern and a few sheepshead. All went back in the lake.

The winds and rain held off beautifully, and we switched to pulling #12 Husky Jerks in 6-8 FOW running about 1.5 mph. 100 feet of 10# Firewire. Silver/blues and Firetigers produced our 6 walleyes in the keeper range, several slots and again some more sheepshead. Seems that the deeper water produced the smaller keeper fish.

We came off at 4:30 and headed home in the rain. Both grandkids were asleep by well before Blackduck. All in all, a simply fine day to be alive.

Next weekend, we should be able to make 2 days out of it.

When did they start making this firewire stuff. Rumor has it that it's stronger than the fireline. grin.gif

Nice thats what I like to hear, was doing an annual trip to LOW with my buddies, but to be quite honest biggest fish I ever saw in 10 plus trips was 27 inches, I caught 3 bigger than that on the pond last year, and hey I can stay in Wright county where I live and catch 10 inch walleyes.. I don't make it up to that end of the lake ever, usually fish the south end..Bought a wheel house this year, would loke to set it up as base camp and hopefully be able to head up toward that end and do some exploring..And thanks for the input, thinking there is a lot of readers and not many writers on this site nowadays...

Lake Marion is completely iced over. Hopefully we won't get much snow and be fishing soon.

Silver lake in New Brighton is iced over. I'm going to count one week before checking thickness on my early ice spots. Could be fishing next Friday if all goes well.
