WAY?

So how do you think the vikes will do?

I think they wont make the playoffs, but I do think the offense will be better then last year. I think jackson will be wild, but I think he will get lucky at times also.

I think 9-6

Well, I gaurantee your 9-6 prediction is wrong!

Mostly because they play 16 games a year... tongue.gif

The fan in me says superbowl champs....The realist says 6-10.

Ok I meant 9-7, but they might just forget to play a game!

Get ready for the announcer's call, just like "Cunningham to Moss", or "Cunningham to Carter"...this year it's going to be "Brooks Bollinger to Todd Lowber"! smile.gif

7-9 record this year. All the fanwagons here in Minnesota will be asking for a new coach all year long.

Didn't they forget to make a draft pick one year? Anything is possible with the Vikes. Being a Packer fan I don't I have much to say as we are probably in worse shape.

4-12

We will be wishing Les Steckel was our coach. I just can't get excited listening to Childress. I have never seen a coach so mono-tone in all my life. They really should test his pulse to see if he is alive.

I dont put anything past this coaching crew. It may be a battle for last place in our division also, you never know confused.gif

as much as i hate to say it, 3-13. Why havent we been looking into the Trent Green situation? Hmm? we have cap money, he wants to leave, we need a veteran QB, but not a thing from us? Just tells me they are not committed to win. If you think for a moment you are gonna win the super bowl with TJack in 07, you are smoking something. Mebbe 4 years from now, but not next year.

I will go with another 6-10 for the Vikes this year.

I will also say that Detroit has a good chance of winning the division at 8-8, tying the Bears.

NFC North is not looking too tough. Just my .02.

I am not a Brad Childress fan. I heard that he would not let Brad Johnson call an audible. He could only change the play from run left or run right. We have offensive coordinators to call the plays. Them might win 6 games.

How about a super bowl! laugh.gif

Two wins over the everyones beloved Packers is the viking 'superbowl'. Other teams aspire for more, but that's 'ok'.

He means beating the cheeseweasles twice on the way to winning the SB . Beating the Packers doesn't really mean the same as it used to , maybe cause they suck . Don't get me wrong , I'll take a Packer beat down any day but its not enough . 12-4 , 13-3 , 14-2 would be great , but its gotta be on the way to a SB win . If we don't do it this year ....... then there will be next year . Or the year after . Or the year after . laugh.gif It will happen . grin.gif

I agree, we will eventualy get a super bowl win! I look at last years Bears team, not a strong QB, recievers were average, okay O-line, decent special teams, and a great D. Now to me that doesn't look like a team that would make a run at the super bowl, but it happened. Besides the Bears D, the viks don't look that much different. From the sounds of it, T-Jack has been taking his role as a leader very seriously and his teamates are begining to have some faith in him. So God willing, that offense clicks and we get a little better on pass defence, I think we can be a sleeper team and thats alright by me. Let the Maddens and Theismans worship those who look good on paper and Green Bays QB, who they say year in an year out is such a warrior and try to justify his 5 int, 1 TD, 92 yds passing day just because Lombardi used to coach the packers. You wait, middle of the season Madden ain't gonna know what to talk about because Farve will be done due to "injury" confused.gif- sorry, I got alittle of track there. Anyways, I am really looking forward to this season, as I look forward to every season. Footballs in my blood and I will always bleed purple and gold! grin.gif

With the early ice out, how is the curlyleaf pondweed doing?

On the south end...   The big basin, otherwise known as Big Traverse Bay, is ice free.  Zippel Bay and Four Mile Bay are ice free as well.  Everything is shaping up nicely for the MN Fishing Opener on May 11th. With the walleye / sauger season currently closed, most anglers are targeting sturgeon and pike.  Some sturgeon anglers are fishing at the mouth of the Rainy River, but most sturgeon are targeted in Four Mile Bay or the Rainy River.  Hence, pike are the targeted species on the south shore and various bays currently.   Pike fishing this time of year is a unique opportunity, as LOW is border water with Canada, the pike season is open year round. The limit is 3 pike per day with one being able to be more than 40 inches. All fish 30 - 40 inches must be released. Back bays hold pike as they go through the various stages of the spawn.  Deadbait under a bobber, spinners, spoons and shallow diving crankbaits are all viable options.   Four Mile Bay, Bostic Bay and Zippel Bay are all small water and boats of various sizes work well. On the Rainy River...  Great news this week as we learned sturgeon will not be placed on the endangered species list by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.     The organization had to make a decision by June 30 and listing sturgeon could have ended sturgeon fishing.  Thankfully, after looking at the many success stories across the nation, including LOW and the Rainy River, sturgeon fishing and successful sturgeon management continues.   A good week sturgeon fishing on the Rainy River.  Speaking to some sturgeon aficionados, fishing will actually get even better as water temps rise.     Four Mile Bay at the mouth of the Rainy River near the Wheeler's Point Boat Ramp is still producing good numbers of fish, as are various holes along the 42 miles of navigable Rainy River from the mouth to Birchdale.   The sturgeon season continues through May 15th and resumes again July 1st.   Oct 1 - April 23, Catch and Release April 24 - May 7, Harvest Season May 8 - May 15, Catch and Release May 16 - June 30, Sturgeon Fishing Closed July 1 - Sep 30, Harvest Season If you fish during the sturgeon harvest season and you want to keep a sturgeon, you must purchase a sturgeon tag for $5 prior to fishing.    One sturgeon per calendar year (45 - 50" inclusive, or over 75"). Most sturgeon anglers are either a glob of crawlers or a combo of crawlers and frozen emerald shiners on a sturgeon rig, which is an 18" leader with a 4/0 circle hook combined with a no roll sinker.  Local bait shops have all of the gear and bait. Up at the NW Angle...  A few spots with rotten ice, but as a rule, most of the Angle is showing off open water.  In these parts, most are looking ahead to the MN Fishing Opener.  Based on late ice fishing success, it should be a good one.

Nice fish. I moved to the Sartell area last summer and just thought it was windy like this everyday up here? 🤭

Crazy windy again today.... This is has been the norm this spring. Between the wind and the cold fronts, fishing has been more challenging for me than most years.  Panfish have been moving in and out of the shallows quite a bit. One day they are up in the slop, the next they are out relating to cabbage or the newly sprouting lilly pads.  Today eye guy and I found them in 4-5 ft of water, hanging close to any tree branches that happened to be laying in the water.  Bigger fish were liking a 1/32 head and a Bobby Garland baby shad.   Highlight of the day way this healthy 15incher
