They're not hatching already are they? If there's a bug hatch you sure it isn't fish flies and not may flies?

Fished till dark last night (Weds), the wind layed down after the rain and the lake became loaded with larva and the small and medium size flies. Spent this morning cleaning the boat, never buy a white boat! Bite was OK, but not as good as it has been, with the longer snells working best. Fished out of Garrison and some of the closer mud.

No May Flies yet but there was a hatch of Fish Flies. The east side of the lake hasn't seen them yet because east winds the past week.

Fish On!!!

I just came around the north end of the lake from 169 it Isle at 3:30 today (Friday). Looked like a semi with a bad burn due to the clouds of mayflies above the highway. The public launch about 3 miles east of 169 had a sliok that went out 6 feet yesterday.

Does this change the fishing success cause we didn't see more than 3 fish caught between 9 and 1:30 today between the Garrison ramp the Myr Mar

How do you get them off the truck? Bug juice at the gas station didn't touch them.

I often run into rusty crayfish when I'm in the boundary waters.  I tried to dig up some solid info on them but are they safe to eat? same as southern crayfish i wonder?  Suck the heads and everything?  It'd be a nice side for a pan full of fish in the BWCA.

Maybe that's my problem, I'm not trying shallow enough.  Good report and hopefully I'll get a good report after my four day fishing outing this weekend.  Hoping accesses stay safe enough.  Wednesday night around 22-23:00 is supposed to start freezing and other then a few hours on Thursday and a few hours during the day on Monday we will be below freezing the next 10 days.  I just hope as its freezing people are not out there rutting up the ice and it can freeze smooth for safer travels.    BB did you do better with minnows/spoons/jigs/wax worms?
