Long Lake in New Brighton

3 posts in this topic

I need a close by lake (st. paul area) to waste a few hours on on saturday. How is the crappie fishing on long lake? Sunnies? I also see on the lake finder that catfish had found their way into the lake from the mississippi, have their numbers grown since then or is it still just a few stragglers? Any info on the lake would be nice. Thanks in advance.

There's quite a few kinds of fish to catch on Long Lake. My buddies usually have better luck than me...I usually catch bullheads.

I haven't fished the lake for about a year now but back then...we'd fish for crappies by the boat launch and everything else around the pier. Decent amount of eyes, northerns, and carp. I tried for cats multiple times....but...still manage to only pull big bullies. I remember there were many nights where the fish would be very, very active....below and ontop of the water. You can't fish after dark but there are many regulars that I've met and fished with that does. The police drives by multiple times a night and won't bother you for staying past the closing time.
