Catching Crappies In Silver Lake

2 posts in this topic

Hello everyone.

I just started fishing in silver lake this year and really enjoy it. I mainly fish for Carp and Suckers however I have caught a few Perch as well. I would like to start targeting Crappie but would like to hear preferred methods for catching them at silver lake. Are there certain areas that are best for catching Crappies or is any place fine? Also recommendations on which lures and baits to use would be great.

Any help you can offer me would be much appreciated. smile.gif

For crappies, I've always done best with live bait on Silver Lake. I'm a big plastics guy, but for some reason, the live minnow seems to fire up the crappies in Silver. If you get into an active pod of fish, I'd then go to plastics.

For starters, try the stone arch bridges on the East side of the lake.

Good Luck

So a few questions about Winni as I have never been there before. Do you find that the fishing tapers off as winter progresses, for example if heading up there for Perch and Walleye would you chose January, February or March, or doesn't it seem to matter much?  Also what is the night vs daytime bite like? Trying to plan a few days up there with the wife and trying to decide when to go and if a sleeper is worthwhile or just do a daytime shack.   Any thoughts are appreciated.     Thank you

The Helix 5 gives you the option to view different screens. The view button option shows separate flasher screen, sonar , gps , others. Screen views will run side by side in different combinations, but flasher screen only works by itself. Great little unit. I use mine for gps . Ram mount on handlebar
