Pike Bay water level

9 posts in this topic

I was just curious how the water level is doing. Did the rain and ole river bring it up any yet or are we going to have to shovel out sand at the launch this year. Opener is just around the corner. I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait. Sorry, just so anxious.

Thanks PBC,

How far before it is at what you would consider normal pool level.

The water level came up about 5 inches but it would take another foot to make traveling from lake to lake a good option. Pray for rain... frown.gif

I'll be staying on Androsia during the third week of August. What are the odds that the stream connecting Androsia to Cass is traversable by boat at that time of year?

Yesterday I saw two big boats go from andrusia to cass so there must be enough water to pass a big boat now. Last fall I went through the river between andrusia and cass many times and made it by easily but I also had a small boat.

Going between the two will be good in August... The main concern is the opening going into Cass..

This time of the year the water can have a pretty good current running from Andrusia-Cass.. Last year docking at Pike Hole was interesting at times...

Could you define "big" and "small"? I'll be piloting a 19ft YarCraft.

Thanks for the replies!

I have an 18'6" Tuffy and there is NO problems going through there right now.. In August sometimes depending on the summer you may need to use a kicker or your bow mount to get through...

They should not be in the deep holes anymore now.   The should be moving to that mid range water.   I saw one surface by the 22 bridge as i was driving by.    It was in shallow water.   Don

it is open from the 22 access to the 22 bridge and i assume the channel down stream to cold spring.   Don

I read that they are going to close the walleye season on 9-5-17 regardless of whether the state's quota is met. Fall fishing gone again........    With these highly restrictive regulations that favor ones desire over another's desire will start to pit fisherman against each other.   If we need to have less fishing pressure on the lake then maybe we should close down all of the public launches. Then some would fish other lakes but the balance would be forced to pay to launch at a resort since we are worried about them. Then that extra business could cover their losses if we eliminate live bait which would hurt their fishing launch business. Maybe we should just ban all paid launch fishing and ban all paid guide service on the lake which just brings additional undesired fishing pressure. Maybe restrict the number of hours any one person is allowed to fish the lake throughout the year.   Heck, I would even favor closing walleye fishing for 3 or 4 years straight if that would get us back to some normal regulations.   Yes, these outbursts are why I do not text any more after 10:00 at night. Time to give up the keyboard also.......

I would look in holes and flats near them.  Deep depends on how shallow the section that you're fishing is.
