Memorial Weekend

4 posts in this topic

I'm going to camp at chief wooden frog memorial weekend, was planning on going up late thursday night and arriving early friday morning to setup camp. Now I won't be able to leave until friday evening and arrive late friday night. I know that's going to affect what campsite I'll be able to get...which leads me to my next question...as big as that campground is, could it possibly be full if I get there that late?

I would doubt it, however if fishing is good and there is a great forecast weatherwise for that weekend, it could fill up. I would venture to say over the last few years it hasn't filled, many kids still in school that weekend so that would be in your favor. good luck, guts

Woodenfrog has lots of sites. I would say you will be ok. If by chance it would be full. Try Arrowhead Resort which is right next to it. They have a campground .

I hear the ice is still pretty strong up there. Pending ice out, how will that affect the fishing that time of year?

Never did report back from last weekend.  We fished Friday evening through Sunday morning.  Friday and Saturday were pretty slow, between 5 of us we had about 6 keepers nothing over 15", and were fishing pretty hard, moving a lot.  Got up early Sunday morning and had a great bite on a main lake reef, we ended up keeping a limit between the 3 of us that were out there.  The other two were pretty disappointed they slept in.  We were sitting in 28' of water and caught most of our fish on minnow heads and a rattle jig, as well as a couple slot fish on a shiner under a tip up.

Are the catfish still biting decent out there? Usually make it up earlier in the year have not made it up yet this year but I'm looking to come up one of the next couple evenings.
