Great day on the river!

2 posts in this topic

Met up with Hanson today and spent the whole day chasing some whiteys.

The water temp is really coming up quick. Had 44 in the morning and found places all the way up to 54 late in day. Speaking of late in the day, the whiteys went on a feeding frenzy and some real pigs made their way to the boat! Stopped counting at 25 with a bunch of bonus fish as well.

The landings are in tough shape right now due to the water dropping. Started out in Shakopee and didn't have chance, mud about 8" and out a long ways. Went to 35W instead and still had a tough time with it. Very muddy, very greasy, but the extra effort to launch paid off.

I believe Hanson will be posting a full report with pics.

Cedar launch and Ft Snelling state park launches are not to bad with the mud. Course, 77 is pretty good since I've shoveled down there twice. MUD SUCKS.

Leech, we're getting out feet wet then we can post within topics. Glem,  What will help you are trolling boards and rod holders.  I use a mast and main line board system but Inline boards work and a lot of guys use them and something for you to consider. Some stick baits to consider are Bombers, Brads, X Raps, Husky Jerks.  Spoons- Jim's Flashbacks, Moonshine.  Patterns/Colors- Pink, Purple, Monkey Puke, 57 Chevy, Pink Lemonade, Water Melon are just a few.  Superior is color specific like no other body of water so it pays to have a variety. Speed can also be critical in getting a strike and then you have to think about was it the rise or fall within the column that was responsible.   Last year you'd catch me at 3mph pulling sticks which isn't the norm.

Shorelander trailers are assembled right next door to Lunds. The serial # on the trailers are assigned a boat serial # after they are delivered.  All Lunds and Crestliners leave the factory on Shorelander trailers. With the exception of a dealer occasionally picking up just the boat itself.

Try giving Modern Assemblies in New York Mills, Mn a call.  They are the ones that built those seats for Lund. The can probably rebuild them for you to original. They do nice work at a reasonable price.

I've been out shore fishing a couple times at Hidden Falls and Minnehaha up to the dam.  Been really slow for me too.  Going out again this morning for the first time in a couple weeks.  Hoping to find a better bite as I've been hearing slightly better reports from boaters in the area.
