Alma float update

6 posts in this topic

The Float was hard on use today. It was a great day to fish but a bad one to catch. 4 of use only caught about 7-8 fish in 12 hours. They really didn't want anything we put in front of them. However there where a ton of boats and I think they did a little better. I guess they did better on Fri. I would like to tell Chad great job on the ONE fish you caught that was only 14.5 inches. grin.gifgrin.gif J/K. All in all we had a good time and Tim from the float had some great smoked fish mmmm mmm good. Well I wish i was writing to say we hammered them. I hope you guys have good luck out there this week. I won't be returning till may 19th. Please keep me posted on how you guys are doing. I may get ill one day and have to stay home from work. wink.gifwink.gif

GOOD LUCK

The hours are 6a.m.-6 p.m. or when ever you want to come back. It will be cheaper to fish the float that is why I don't take my boat and the fact that they catch more fish off the float most days the other thing you don't have to figh the water to try and stay in one spot. The cost is $15 for the day. They have Bait out there. And food. Have fun and good luck

Sounds like putting the gear away wasn't a bad idea. Didn't relize the ice has deteriorated that much. Guess I've been to caught up in thinking about summer. Sounding like maybe get the boat out next weekend hard to say yet would like to get it on the water first as possibly taking it to lake superior in a few weeks. Thanks all for the reports keep em coming. Ooh forgot drove past crow wing lake yesterday and the north side was melted a ways from shore and away from the reeds. Just in a few hours the ice turned from white-black to dark black. With the temps forcasted it shouldn't take long now.

You got to stop by! One of the best fisheries as far as multi spices lakes in MN. The fish that come out of big V can be monsters. With that being said the scenery all over the lake is like none other. It's truly one of the most scenic lakes I've ever fished really makes you sit back and really enjoy what nature has to offer.

I'm hanging it up for the season as well. Yesterday we hit 371 bay of North Long. The walk in was a bit spooky. The ice is very rotten. It takes about 8 toe kicks to make a hole hole through the ice.    With that being said, the 371 bay is the first of the area lakes to freeze and first to melt. So, I think it's reasonable to say that a guy can still get out on larger lakes, like Round, Gull, or Pelican. That's just my two cents.    It was a great year with many memoirs made. Good luck to those that still make it out, and again, be safe!

My goal is to fish Vermilion again someday.   I keep driving past it.
