Fishing Report / Ice conditions, April 11th

1 post in this topic

We took the snowmobiles out on Monday from West Wind, and fished for most of the day untill sun down. 2 crappies, 5 perch, and I cant even count how many walleyes. Virtually every hole I drilled caught at least one fish, and I drilled alot of holes. We fished North, South, East, and West but could not get into the crappies. This morning was the same thing, lots of walleye but no crappies. Tomorrow is another day and I wont rest till I find them. The ice conditions are great now, but I'm sure will get a little wet after the warm weather shoots through this weekend. Good Luck!!!!

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
