june on rainy

4 posts in this topic

Just curious, will smallmouth still be in their spawning grounds, like warm shallow bays, or will they have moved out to drop offs and deeper water by say, mid-June? My buds and I were going to be up there late may, but plans changed, now the second weekend of June is probably going to be our best bet. Also, we will be seeking walleyes, any ideas? Probably going to be sticking to the american side, and camping on an island in voyaguers, so any tips or info is appreciated. Thanx

A lot of that will depend on our weather. Mid-June is usually the time they'll be moved out or in the process. Stay tuned in and see what's happening closer to your trip.

Been there the third week of June each of the last few years and found only a few smallmouth in the shallows.

Agreed with F&F. Warmer weather means early spawn and early out, but if it stays cooler for just a little longer in June that could mean that the smallies will still be up there. Also as F&F said watch as time gets closer for your trip.

Take Care and Good Luck Fishing!!

There was random ice sheets all over the lake this morning.   Should be ice covered 100% barring it being to windy.   By Friday at the latest.   Could be ice fishing next week in certain areas.   Don

Was up this past weekend, everything is still open. Should lock up this week though looking at the chilly forecast.

An older gentleman I know gave me his ice fishing gear last year knowing he wasn't able to use it anymore due to health.  Really tore him up, as I'm sure it would for all of us.  Cleaned up the tipups real nice, and took this photo of one on Leech to send to him knowing they were in good hands and more importantly continue to catch fish!   I'm not in St.Cloud, nor want in for the contest just thought I'd share
