Well, as we all know, the twins started the season off with a bang last night, when they hit the ball well, and santa was on his A game.

Just thought i would start a thread to talk about the twins all season long.

Keep it rolling!!!!!!

Well it will be fun to watch Boof tonight. We're in Left Center about 7 rows up, I hope the Twins hit a few long balls tonight grin.gif

He has to set the ton for his year tonight. They need him huge this year again. Hopefully, he will be great for the team.

Twins win again...nice game from Bonser...and five stolen bases for the Twins tonight...and another save from Nathan...

All around nice game. Let's see how the three/four/five starters do now...

I was impressed for Boofs first game out. He was around the zone all night. THe biggest key for the twins, is to have there starts get to the 6th or 7th innings. If they can do that, with the lead, there going to be a tuff team to beat all year long.

Funny part about that is, they need to teach him how to slide head first into second base. That was funny as heck watching that last night.

Santana was not on his A game as earlier eluded and Boof only threw 59 of 100 pitches for strikes, yet they still won. This I think is good news that our beloved twins can still win even if the pitching is not always there. Last nite was another good example of the pirranhas at work.

That was funny stuff, he was literally crawling to the bag. I can't believe he made it safe. He said he stumbled, but it looked like he launched his slide a little early. I was there, so I saw no replays.

His body was moving faster then his legs were. Yes, it was a funny deal.

Another great performance from the Twins last night. Punto was amazing again at third. Great starting performance last night. They hit the ball around the park again last night. Biggest thing that i have seen from then, is that they are going with the pitchs, and staying inside the ball.

Im excited for the season.

Well Santa pitched another cy young game today. Man does he look good this year again. Now they need to get him that contract that he desirves. He wants to be here, just pay the man.

Offence did its job again today, just hope they keep hitting when they need to hit.

Isnt that a fact. Man, he had a ruff outting. The yankes did hit the ball around the park, but he just looked like he was out of sink, and didnt have it all there last night.

Hopefully he will be able to come back with a good outting next time, so he can get his head back on his shoulders.

Well chalk it up to first start with new team jitters...God I hope that's what it was. Who goes tonight, Bonser probably. Yankees lineup is tight.

Bonser tonight, Ortiz tomorrow to close out the Yank series, and Silva opens the Tampa Bay series on Thursday.

He did have a fairly rough outing early. The Yankees did hit the ball around very well though. He looked rough in the first two innings and then settled down and looked fairly well until his pitch count hit 90, then he went down quickly. Oh well, I think he should work well. Can't the UofM just clone Cy-tanna laugh.gif

Boof and Ortiz are going to have solid outtings against the yanks. If they can do that, we will know that we have a staff that can handel the big wings. I think if they do this, we are going to have a solid pitching staff of 4, where ponson, can get the innings to help the bullpen.

IMO i think that Garza well be here pretty quick if Ponson is like this for very long. Garza's ERA was 1.50 in spring training.

I saw nothing positive in that tub of goo that pitched last night. I have a feeling roster moves will be sooner than later.

Bret that's a good one. I won't say I told you so Twins fans but if Dave Duncan can't fix him you can forget about it.

Not That I'm a Ponson Fan, but give him a couple of chances to prove his worth, or not. Same with Ortiz, his one good start is great but lets follow that with a few more before we decide that he was worth the signing. Its still early, after a couple more starts we will have a better understanding of the pitching staff that we have. cool.gif

I agree with you. It will take a few to prove that they are going to be what we expect of them. I was ust happy that they got started on the right foot.

Not so much 'Boof!,' more like 'Oof!'...

Lots of times against the $kankie$, it looks like men vs boys. These last couple have looked like men vs girlie boys.

Here's hoping we can win one of the 7 we have this year against them: We've got tickets for the July 5th affair in NY, and would be a little more fun if we're not walking into that one 0-6 in the series. blush.gif

I doubt we will 0 and 6 but they are not playing great but they are still a good team the yankees are hitting the ball great if they keep it up the will be unstoppable but we all now how long that may last A-rod is hitting that ball like it were slow pitch 6 homers in seven games that is hard to compete against

I'm not there, so I can't tell exactly what's going on but it looks like a large area of open water developed in the last day with all of the heavy snow on the east side of wake em up Narrows. These two photos are from my Ring Camera facing north towards Niles Point.  You can see what happened with all of snow that fell in the last three days, though the open water could have been wind driven. Hard to say. .

Black Bay had great ice before but a few spots near rockpiles where there were spots of open water. It looks like the weight of the snow has created a little lake in the middle of the bay.

On the south end...   Thanks to some cold spring weather, ice fishing continues strong for those still ice fishing.  The bite remains very good.  Most resorts have pulled their fish houses off for the year, however, some still have fish houses out and others are allowing ATV and side by sides.  Check social media or call ahead to your favorite resort for specifics. Reports this week for walleyes and saugers remain excellent.   A nice mix of jumbo perch, pike, eelpout, and an occasional crappie, tullibee or sturgeon being reported by anglers. Jigging one line and using a live minnow on the second line is the way to go.  Green, glow red, pink and gold were good colors this week.     Monster pike are on a tear!  Good number of pike, some reaching over 45 inches long, being caught using tip ups with live suckers or dead bait such as smelt and herring in 8 - 14' of water.   As always, work through a resort or outfitter for ice road conditions.  Safety first always. Fish houses are allowed on the ice through March 31st, the walleye / sauger season goes through April 14th and the pike season never ends. On the Rainy River...  The river is opened up along the Nelson Park boat ramp in Birchdale, the Frontier boat ramp and Vidas boat ramp.  This past week, much of the open water skimmed over with the single digit overnight temps.   Areas of the river have popped open again and with temps getting warmer, things are shaping up for the last stretch through the rest of the spring season, which continues through April 14th.   Very good numbers of walleyes are in the river.  Reports this week, even with fewer anglers, have been good.  When temps warm up and the sun shines, things will fire up again.   Jigs with brightly colored plastics or jigs with a frozen emerald shiner have been the desired bait on the river.  Don't overlook slow trolling crankbaits upstream as well.   Good reports of sturgeon being caught on the river as well.  Sturgeon put the feed bag on in the spring.  The bite has been very good.  Most are using a sturgeon rig with a circle hook loaded with crawlers or crawlers / frozen emerald shiners. Up at the NW Angle...  Ice fishing is winding down up at the Angle.  Walleyes, saugers, and a number of various species in the mix again this week.  The bite is still very good with good numbers of fish.  The one two punch of jigging one line and deadsticking the second line is working well.   Check with Angle resorts on transport options from Young's Bay.  Call ahead for ice road guidelines.

With the drifting, kind of hard to tell for sure, but I'm guessing about a foot and still lightly snowing. Cook end!

How much snow did you get on Vermilion?
    • Mike89
lake here refroze too...  started opening again yesterday with the wet snow and wind...  very little ice left today...
    • Hookmaster
A friend who has a cabin between Alex and Fergus said the lake he's on refroze. He texted me a pic from March 12th when it was open and one from 23rd when it wasn't. 🤯
    • SkunkedAgain
I don't think that there has been any ice melt in the past few weeks on Vermilion. Things looked like a record and then Mother Nature swept in again.   I'll give my revised guess of April 21st

As I get older it's really not just about sending bullets down range.  Some of it's just the workmanship of the gun and the wow factor. The other two guns I have really wanted which I'll never have now because of their price, is a 8mm Jap Nambu and 9mm German Luger.   Just thought they always looked cool!

I had a guy hit me with a lightly used 1969 BAR, he wanted $1650 with an older Leupold scope. More than I think they are worth, I made an offer, he declined end of story.   You know if you look at the old brochures, a grade II BAR sold for $250 in the late 60s, $1650 would be a good return on your investment.    Why would anybody want a 50 year old gun, they are heavy, have wood stocks, and blued metal.  I guess mainly to keep their gun safes glued to the floor. lol   You can probably buy a stainless rifle that you never have to clean, with a synthetic stock you never have to refinish, is as light as a feather, and for half as much money, perfect.   I'm too old for a youth gun, although I've shrunk enough that it would probably fit. lol   No Ruger 10/44s.   Jim
