north shore fly fishing

3 posts in this topic

I have always heard about some fly fishing for steelhead during april. I have also heard that fishing really isnt the greatest for that also. Does anyone fly fish up in the north shore area and would like to share with me some tips and possibly places to catch some Salmon and Steelheads. You can email me at walleyefisher03@yahoo.com if you dont want to share your hush hush places on here. Thanks to anyone who replys!

While most guys use mono on a fly rod, I actually fly fish for steelhead and I think it can be very effective. I still use a lot of yarn with a split shot, but will try stone flies, wooly buggers, x legs patterns, and other nymphs. I fish mostly middle shore rivers, (two harbors to silver bay) but you can fly fish any of the lower rivers (Lester, sucker, knife, ext) Good luck.
