Members Only Fluid Forum View   08/08/2017

Fluid forum view allows members only to get right to the meat of this community; the topics. You can toggle between your preferred forum view just below to the left on the main forum entrance. You will see three icons. Try them out and see what you prefer.   Fluid view allows you, if you are a signed up member, to see the newest topic posts in either all forums (select none or all) or in just your favorite forums (select the ones you want to see when you come to Fishing Minnesota). It keeps and in real time with respect to Topic posts and lets YOU SELECT YOUR FAVORITE FORUMS. It can make things fun and easy. This is especially true for less experienced visitors raised on social media. If you, as a members want more specific topics, you can even select a single forum to view. Let us take a look at fluid view in action. We will then break it down and explain how it works in more detail.   The video shows the topic list and the forum filter box. As you can see, it is easy to change the topic list by changing the selected forums. This view replaces the traditional list of categories and forums.   Of course, members only can change the view to better suit your way of browsing.   You will notice a “grid” option. We have moved the grid forum theme setting into the main forum settings. This makes it an option for members only to choose. This screenshot also shows the removal of the forum breadcrumb in fluid view mode. Fluid view remembers your last forum selection so you don’t lose your place when you go back to the listing. The benefit of this feature is easy to see. It removes a potential barrier of entry for members only. It puts the spotlight on topics themselves, and not the hierarchical forum structure. You as a member will enjoy viewing many forums at once and switching between them without leaving the page. We hope that fluid view, the new functionality is an asset that you enjoy .

Question on Four-Mile Bay?

Recommended Posts

LEECH21

When do you guys see the bay opening up? We have our sturgeon fishing trip planned for April 14th. Will we be able to fish there in the boat or will we be S.O.L. and have to fish the river?

Thanks ahead for any guesses or suggestions.

Hey Leech,

Don't sweat it to much. There will be a place to fish. Just keep an eye on the lake & the river forums and you should be able to follow the thaw.

We have all been way off on predictions this year & I think every one is a bit gun-shy of even making a guess. Have heard that the Gap is already open and there is a truck down in 4-mile bay but haven't seen it my self.

Did go up to Birchdale tonight and it should be open Sun. or Mon. & I think the rest will..... no, I'm not going to say it.

Ok Leech here's some help, I hope.

Your date is just too close to the wire. Maybe, maybe not.

Nobodys is answering because nobody knows. The next weekend

ought to be ok (ought to) the following weekend even better.

You will have river spots to fish for sure but the bay isnt

something you can bank on the first half of April.

I hope it works out for you but next time come a week or

two later for better odds. The FM Sturgeon Excursion is

April 20th and this time of the year a week can make a

big difference.

Good Luck

No not yesterday. 2 weeks ago when we had that first cold spell I went out on Baxter, Blue and Long and checked the ice. They were locked up but only had 1-2" inches so didn't venture out too far. Baxter probably was walkable but had open water on the back end so figured I stay off. Last Sunday I went and checked them out after that warm rainy week we had and they had open water, so yesterday I skipped checking them and went farther north. But I did notice most lakes were locked up on the drive up there. Cant wait for the local lakes to get some decent ice!

Wondering if big sandy is clear enough to spear fish when the ice comes on? Never done it before and would like to give it a try

Bryan did you check any lakes around me?

Had to scratch the ice fishing itch, so I drove up north to the Mille Lacs lake area and found a smaller lake with 4-5" of ice. Punch a few holes and found some crappies and sunnies. Nothing big but was fun time and a great way to start my ice seaso n! Bring on the ice!  Check out the video: https://youtu.be/BTTv_G07PB8
