North End Gull Crappies

3 posts in this topic

How is the spring fishing on the north end of gull where the creek comes in at the access along hwy 77? Warms up sooner up there I assume? Anyone fish that spot at all?

The channel area between Gull and the Upper Chain is one of the best spots in the area for spring crappie fishing. There is always a little current flow through that area, and the water is a little more stained than the rest of the lake. You are right it does warm a little faster and it is one of the first places the crappies move into. It gets fished real hard by boaters and shore anglers but it still offers some tremendous fishing. It also offers some good walleye fishing during the first few days of the walleye season in May.

Excellent. If I can make it up there I'll definitely give it a try. And if the fish aren't biting I'll just head across the street and have a beer. Thanks for the info.

Any reports? I know there was a lot of people out there. The boomsite access was already 3/4 full when I drove by at 5 AM. I'm thinking about going out of blufflands park on Friday.

Kinda cold and windy yesterday. Fish really didn't seem to mind though. Finding ggod sized fish was the goal for the afternoon. Started off in a feeding bay that has a section of deeper water in it. This deeper water is where I found all my fish. Crappies were holding tight to the weed cover around the hole, while gills were closer to the surface. It wasn't fast fishing by any means, still I managed to find some real quality pannies

I have two Vexilar transducers.    1) Thru hull/trolling motor- used.  From FL8 2) New never used, high speed.       I looked on Vexilar's site, The one's they sell say FL8 or FL18.  Checked FAQ and they look like they are interchangeable with other models???  Can text pictures-what do you have?
