Odd sign when scouting??

3 posts in this topic

To scratch my itch so to speak I went for a walk/scout/shed hunt yesterday. I found a great spot. Its a thicket on the saddle portion of 2 hills that come together. theres a powerline running paralell to the west and a frozen pond to the east. While lookign around I found a monster set of deer tracks about three inches wide with huge dew claws in the mud and snow. they were relitively fresh. I followed the tracks into the thicket past several old rubs and found 2-3 bigger sized beds. at the junction of three trails it was solid deer crap. I couldnt see the trail only the pellets. there must have been a thousand of them in a 3 foot patch of trail. What does everyone make of this?? I found a single bed about four feet to the left and my thought was that the buck was lying there and crapped in the same spot?? confused.gif The tracks and the rubs/ general setup of the spot really turned me on crazy.gifgrin.gif but I dont think Ive ever seen that much crap in such a tiny spot....any thoughts??

sounds to me you have found the core area of a mature buck. the only question would be how big .study it now , then stay out of there so you don't spook him more than you have ! then decide wether you want to hunt him or not.

My garage roof is leaking from last few weeks and i am very much tensed about it because i have tried many things to block the leaks but nothing can prevent it.So i must call Roof Repair expert for this or is there any way to prevent those leaks.

Thanks. So it hasn't changed much then. Still might go give it a whirl!

If you haven't read it yet, a couple of slobs are about to ruin it for the rest of us. Pick up your garbage and respect private property. The land owners who allow access to the lower sucker river are about to shut it down because they are so fed up with it. http://minnesotasteelheader.blogspot.com

With the wind being fairly strong today I opted to hit the back waters of Little Rock. Have done goid there in yrs past.... so I figured it would be worth a shot. Finding crappies was pretty easy, they were holding tight to the brush and downed trees. Finding crappies over 8inches was tough...lol.  I don't think I broke 9inches. But did manage one big carp. Guessing right around 30in, pulled me and the yak all over the lake before I got it boat side

Hit the one down by Watkins a couple times this winter. There were a lot of people that fished it this last winter. Got gills and crappies of all different sizes. If your looking for keeper size fish, other area lakes will provide better numbers. Haven't been on the other one of  in a few yrs. There were good numbers of 6-7in sunfish if I remember right.
