Rainy River

2 posts in this topic

Hi Guys and Gals,

Does any one have a report on the river from Birchdale to I-falls. Gail from Clementson had a report yesterday at Birchdale to just above the rapids east ( Thanks for the report Gail). Temps up there are above the freezing and the sun is working on the ice. The little boat will be ready in a few days.

Anything would help.

I made a trip about 50miles east of here to see what the river was looking like. About 15 miles east of Birchdale looked pretty tight right now, but I got some great photos on the way back. There was 2 big weak spots near Indus and was also excited to see one at Franz Jevne also. A comment left on our website also noted open water by Loman. We'll be checking periodically, it won't be long now! You can see the photos at

Take Care

      make / manufacturer: Eskimo
model name / number: Mako Upgraded to an electric auger and selling my old one. Runs great and has been well taken care of. Starts on 2-3 pulls every time. I have the extension for it as well as a new set of blades that I bought but haven't needed to change yet. I also have a cabelas auger bag that it fits in.

I scored a set of Striker Hardwaters for 25% off   bibs+coat. I fish early ice alone, decided to pull the trigger on a warm suit that can float if I end up breaking thru.  That crowd was insane. Happy to see the big turnout. All of the TV dudes were roaming around too, talking with ppl and taking pics. Had a great time and I'm happy to see how big the ice fishing community is getting. Just stay away from my holes!!!     jk. Looks like we could be gaining up to an inch of ice/day in metro lakes if this forecast holds.
