Rainy River

2 posts in this topic

Hi Guys and Gals,

Does any one have a report on the river from Birchdale to I-falls. Gail from Clementson had a report yesterday at Birchdale to just above the rapids east ( Thanks for the report Gail). Temps up there are above the freezing and the sun is working on the ice. The little boat will be ready in a few days.

Anything would help.

Thanks

Mark

I made a trip about 50miles east of here to see what the river was looking like. About 15 miles east of Birchdale looked pretty tight right now, but I got some great photos on the way back. There was 2 big weak spots near Indus and was also excited to see one at Franz Jevne also. A comment left on our website also noted open water by Loman. We'll be checking periodically, it won't be long now! You can see the photos at www.clementsonresort.com.

Take Care

I crossed over to the dark side of smallies about 15 years ago. Mostly chase pannies in winter but used to chase eyes a few times on the hard water each season.   I could post a ton of pics if you need more proof.

Sorry to make you hold up a bottom feeder, but we needed to see it!

I was up over the weekend and my shoreline was getting pretty sketchy.  Had a pocket of open water down the shore about a 100 yards. Where I could see the bottom in two to three feet of water.  Walked out about a hundred yards and popped four holes Saturday afternoon. There was 17- 18.5"s of ice in those four holes. Looking at the forecast I can't see the ice sticking around too much longer.  The holes I popped had 5-6" of pretty mushy cloudy stuff on top and about 12"s of pretty solid stuff underneath it.
