Stay on marked roads!!! or else!!

7 posts in this topic

I took this pic on rocky reef this afternoon. I was watching this guy drive off the plowed road about 300 yards. I was gonna go over and offer a tow but another crack opened up 50ft behind him. Luckly he found a tow service that was willing to come out on the ice..

Yes everybody needs to stay on the roads . We were out by Shermans and went of the road and fell into a hole were a perm. used to be luckily we had a strap and somebody offered to help get us out. So if youre out their be careful becuase its a major drop. and even worse we caught perch two weeks ago but this trip didnt catch hardly any. Good luck to everyone but be careful.

DrillinHolz, were you the guy we talked to when we were leaving the ice yesterday.Thats my sled in the picture.Did they get out ok,he said his son in law was coming to try and pull him out and I didn't think that was going to work he was resting on the frame,I think a tow truck was his only option.Hope you did better than we did.We are planning another trip in 2 weeks if the ice holds.

So, what was YOUR ice show score of the day!? I'm heading down on Sunday to see what scraps I can dig up. Absolutely more excited than I should be considering the only ice I've seen so far is the kind that fits in a glass..

Seeing it's only your second year find buddy to go with as rock said. I even bring a second set of dry clothes and footwear. I am to big mess with thin ice I need 6 inches as rick said early varies so much so some where there is half as much ice.    Safety gear check include ice cleats as i have seen enough broken arms happen. Check your gear test the vexilar hook it up and turn it on to see if it runs or just hook up the charger. I use the drill plate so I charge all my batteries and with blade protecter on I make sure it works. My little sled is ready to haul my gear.    I go light during early ice so fill so fill up my plactics container and restock my jig boxes. Make sure my set ups have new line and pick my favorite set ups to take with. I can add some photos later
