The staff at Reel Fishing and Tackle are the "real deal", no pun intended. Folks, if you're considering stopping in there shop just to look around and say "hi", I would highly recommend it. Joe, Matt, and Katy are a full-serve bait shop and will do just about anything to try and meet and/or satisfy any of your fishing needs. Most recently, I have stumbled on to some pitch problems with my Strikemaster Lazer Mag Express that I bought from Joe late this past fall. To make a long story short, Joe is shipping the auger back to Big Lake for me, it's getting repaired and in the mean time, he loaned me a personal auger to keep me fishing. I can't say enough about our South Central MN forum sponsor. You are all encouraged to give Reel Fishing and Tackle the business they deserve.

Kudos to Reel Fishing and Tackle in Madison Lake, MN!

What was it doing or not doing? Is that covered under warranty or is the bait shop going to take care of it? Regardless of either that was pretty white of the bait shop to do that for you!

The cut just wasn't what it used to be. A variety of things could have happened but Strikemaster is thinking it may be the pitch on my shaft. Strikemaster isn't charging me anything but the freight.

Reel Fishing and Tackle is "da bomb".

There's still driveable ice in the Ely area.

We were fishing tip-ups for pike and jigging spoons for perch over by Terry's the last few weeks. There were quite a few perch in the 3-10" range. Sometimes we had ten marks on our screens at once. They were in shallow, 6-8', and the big pike were chasing them.   Also, Rocky Reef had some pockets where the perch were thick this winter. Those tended to be in 11-16'.    I still think the perch are in there, but they're difficult to find under the ice.   Get the boat out there and idle around side-scanning for baitfish pods, kand you'll see a lot of what look like perch schools.

White Sand had 12 inches last Monday when I fished it.  ice cracked and began shifting a few days ago.  Interesting year as ice is still tight to shoreline, but some of those cracks that developed a few days ago are up anywhere from a foot to 5 feet wide now.      I'm done. was hoping to hit N.Long one last time but not worth the risk anymore.

46 inch pike in MN sort of a stretch as well, although I was "only" about 5 inches short on one last summer. (on vermilion)
