Any guesses when this will start this year. With ice out coming soon, I've gotta have something to look forward to. grin.gif

I'm also looking forward to the old sucker run. I made it out only twice last year and plan to do it a bit more this year.

I say we should be fishing suckers on April 5th

Once the new green shoots of grass poke through the old dead grass along the river bank about two inches. That's what usually signals to me anyway. confused.gif

We should pick a day for an informal gtg. Maybe some dogs, some brews, and a stretch of shore?

I think an informal GTG would be a great time.

Sat, April 14th?

I'd be game for a GTG, just don't pick April 14. Stream trout opener, I'll be chasing trout.

I got in on it a bit last year. Definately a fun time. Could probably even do a evening GTG. Here's one from last year.

Nice Silver Redhorse! Those fish are a blast, and Southeast MN is home to the best Silver runs in the nation. I can't wait to get into them this spring! We have an annual weekend get-together during the sucker runs down on the Root, and it's a blast. ~hogsucker

FYI 2 of the 3 landings near us were starting to look a little beat up yesterday. With the temps & moisture today along with more of same forcasted for tomorrow, I have to believe that access to the area lakes will be getting tougher.

Still about 14-15 inches of ice...plenty of slop and water today. Access was very beat up when I left.

Anyone know what resorts are/aren't open to wheelhouse traffic this weekend? I see Hunters point and Agate bay are closed due to cracks by shore. I usually fish the east shore but might have to be open to something else.... Anyone know what resorts are/aren't open to wheelhouse traffic this weekend? I took a break from walleye fishing on Vermilion and decided to chase crappies for a few days to get away from the crowds. Fun and a good bite also! Cliff
