Winnie Weekend

5 posts in this topic

First time to big Winnie for 4 Iowa guys. High banks teated us right with great accomadations. Fishing was great on Fri afternoon & Sat morning with just a few short of our daily limit. After the winter storm rolled in they slowed down greatly. If you put in the time you can still pick up a nice mess of large perch. Fatheads on gold jigs worked best for us in about 22 feet just off Zoomers. This was a great trip for us, thanks to Rick and Kim. We will be back for some summer time fishing.

Hey Fishingmedic,

Just curious, did you guys fish out of a shack or outside the vehicles? We really struggled with the wind on Fri and Sat. Thanks

Dodger

We were in a sleeper shack called "Hiliton", so the wind did not bother us. High Banks web site has some pictures take a look.

I'll stand behind Steve's ice rods!   I was able to get a nice collection of them last week.  Some panfish rods that I hope to work out tomorrow, and some walleye/laker types that I used today.  Great feel, light, and well built.       I connected with a couple mid-20 inch lakers today and couldn't have enjoyed the fight any better on another rod.  Very happy!   Thanks Steve!

Not bad! Was the ice soft all they way through?
