Thanks to Kelly and Jon

4 posts in this topic

I just wanted to say thank you to Kelly and Jon for another great trip to URL. I took my kids up for the weekend to do a little fishing and relaxing in the fish house. The fishing was so good that we didn't have much time to relax. We ended up catching a bunch of crappies, walleyes and a 36" pike that my daughter caught on Sunday afternoon. I sent jon some pictures to post on here or on his website, as I am not sure how to do it. The kids had a blast. I need to try to put together another trip through Kelly and Jon this winter, as the fishing and service that they provide are unbeatable. The fish are still there and they are bigger than ever, so get out there and fish!

Thats awesome...I caught a 36" pike on LOW a few weeks ago and that was intense so I bet she had a ball...Sounds like Jon and Kelly are always putting people on the fish. I've never met them but they sound like really good guides and great people.

That place looked so promising that we moved the "Labshack" alongside of you. They got here today and nailed, yes nailed one walleye like in 1 shocked.gif ?????. grin.gifgrin.gifgrin.gif Looks like Labs is fired as scout and your kids are hired. grin.gif

Maybe instead of firing him, my kids could set up a "take an adult fishing" program, where they act as mentors to the adult, trying to show them that there is still hope. We would hate to see them get discouraged and give up on fishing! The kids had a blast, and are trying to figure out a way to come along next time also. We'll scout for you guy's any day! Thanks again!

It's been interesting. Like everyone, when you first discover these forums, you feel part of a small group and want to share everything. But then you realize the vast depth of the internet and how many people are actually seeing what you post. Then it's like whoa!  Once I saw the impacts first hand of what a popular thread did to a fishery it significantly changed my opinion on these forums. They are great, but tread lightly.   And yes, with the evolution fishing comforts, there has been an huge increase in pressure across the board. I just worry about lake trout the most because of the lack of info out there about them and the complete lack of management by the DNR. Every species seems to have a "group" pushing the DNR for increased management and educating the public. Lake trout don't have that. T.U. does a lot for stream trout, but nothing for lakers. Not sure where our trout stamp money is going anymore, aside for stocking rainbows and loopers. Seems there should be added attention on a few of the more popular lake trout lakes keeping tabs on them.

Caught a 33 and 36" on the rocks this weekend. I've never been successful targeting them. But always seem to catch some here and there.

Check out Raven Lake in Ontario. I've seen their ad in Outdoor News saying $240/week per person. I've been meaning to check this out and see what it includes as far as accommodations, boats etc.
