Thanks Kelly, Patsy & Jonny.

I've visited these people for some years now and just wanted to say thanks again! I came up last Thursday, by myself and started fishing at 1:30 and by 3:30 I had 9 crappies and one 15.5" walleye (10-12 smaller and larger walleyes released). At 5:30 Patsy stopped by to see how I was doing and we bothjust laughed. We met the other two for an adult beverage at the Tall Tale's Bar. Great people serving and great fun. Left the next morning catching 20 crappies and 30 walleyes. No walleyes over 20", biggest crappie 14.5".

Thanks again!!!!

Sounds like you had a good time.

I am calling Kelly for a sleeper house today -- What was the hot hook and color?

I caught almost everything using a bobber. One set at 6" from the bottom and one 18" from the bottom. I caught walleyes and crappies at both depths. I'm partial to red hooks and I add a Phelp's white (chartreuse)glow tube. That's what was on my dead sticks, and they out fished jigging. I jigged with an assortment of jigs and colors, but the hook & tube did the trick. After I had my crappies, I set 7" - 8" sucker minnows down 4' off the bottom and caught 3 walleyes just under 20" in length. I had 3 northerns on my 4 lb. test but never got one to the hole. Close but no cigar.

Good luck!

Saw a group  like you described a couple weeks back below the Sartell dam while fishing. They didnt have head gear though. They were playing by the dam gates riding the flow from the open side. Then they hung out by the closed side and I learned that its only about knee high on a certain area  that in my mind thought it was much deeper.Looked like fun for sure

I have a Minn Kota Ulterra and am not having any problems. In last two days I have seen two fisherman struggling out on the water trying to stow their units that failed to auto stow. There is an emergency procedure described in digital manual but it is not very helpful. I have looked for a video of this procedure on You Tube but couldn't find one. Has anyone had any luck finding such a video??

Back to fun pictures and the reason I love coming to the Tower/Ely area!   There's just an amazing difference in the environment up here.  It's something I miss pretty much every day I'm not here.  And when you have as beautiful of a Saturday as we had yesterday, I just gotta say "Ahhh, this makes everything else worthwhile."   And when I go back through my best fishing memories, SO many have been made here, and yesterday I added another.  These girls in consecutive casts:

On Thursday I caught many crappies and sunfish that had not spawned yet. None of the bigger ones seemed to have spawned at all. We also caught almost no males.
