Zippel Bay Resort Directions

8 posts in this topic

I'm heading up tomorrow sleeper at Zipple Bay Resort. I have good directions to get to Baudette, but I'm not sure of how to get from there to the Resort. Any help would be greatly appreciated. confused.gif

Fetzer: Take Hwy 172 toward Wheelers Point, just west of Baudette, to County Rd 8. Go left, or West. Follow the #8 road until you see the signs to Zipple Bay Resort. You will go past several resorts, Ken-mar Kee, Walleye Retreat, Morris Point, etc. You will also go past the Zipple State Park. The resort sign is a little farther and will be on you right side, can't miss it.. Have fun, Nick does a good job of having his guides put you on fish... smile.gif Kaz

Kaz is right on. He has been to every resort up there and knows them all. If he doesn't its because they just opened up yesterday...LOL. Good luck and hang on Bill

Actually, the sign will be on your left, if your coming from Baudette. Either way still can't miss it.

Hey Ripper,

I moved up to the forward facing style....

Haugen and I were fishing in your neck of the woods on Wednesday. Did really good. 3 of us fishing, we ended up 2 short on the saugers. Nice size, steady action all day. No monsters, but still a good day for mid-Feb.

Later,

Lip Ripper is usually facing the wrong way. Good to hear people catch fish when Lip is not there!!

There are two main spawning spots on Vermilion that I know of. I'm near the one on the west end of Vermilion. The walleye haven't been as good on this end yet they don't pull any fish out from here. They've been pulling walleye out of the east end spawning spot in Pike Bay, and for some reason walleye have been doing better over there.   I have no doubt that there are many variables that go into the equation, but you can't ignore that the end they put the 10% back into has been doing better than the one where they leave it alone.

Are there any updates for the area?  It sounds like crappie fishing is good in the shallows on Fishtrap.  I heard Sham is fighting high waters with no end in sight....

Trolloni - Do you write it that way to actually troll us?  Creel/lake surveys show Vermilion is very healthy and the DNR continues to use new technology.  It's only going to get better.  If we listened to old, arm-chair QB's, fishing would be as shi#TY as the West side.

At least10% of all eggs hatched at the Pike River Hatchery are returned to Vermilion waters every year. According to DNR statistics that percentage is usually a much higher survival rate then if they had let the walleyes spawn naturally! I consider that a good trade off! Cliff

They should not be  going  back to area waters or traded to  other dnr  districts they should go right back into LAKE VERMILLION !!!  Don't ya think its time the dnr   should start to listen  to the paying public, us ! [trappers, hunters,  fisherpeople ,boaters and snowmobilers ]
